Hmm Kimball just said that we might be reaching 230 mph laps this year Looks like Chevy and Honda added some serious bhp.

I find that a bit lofty. I know they're probably all in race trim at the moment but it seems really optimistic to gain 8 mph in just a few days.

Maybe I'm looking at it incorrectly though.

The weather might play a big part.

More boost for qualifying too.

They had more boost on pole day last year as well and the gain throughout the week was about 6 mph in the end.

Of course they have a lot more experience and comfort established with the cars this year.

Well Chevy and Honda also made some changes to their engines since last year.

I checked qualifying laps from this and last year races we had so far:

St Pete 0.2 sec faster than last year
Barber 3 sec faster than last year
Long Bech 1.5 sec faster than last year

I can't compare Brazil because they changed chicane and made it faster.

God dammit just found the Indy 500 is 1 day before exams.

EDIT: Hinch almost caused a crash. It's not a good thing to slow down in the corner when you are running in a group.

hinch just hit 224. a bit of drafting helped that out but still the speeds are picking up a bit today

also he did that lap in marco's car haha they went out in each other cars for a few laps

They seem to keep swapping cars.

Marco ripped off a 225 lap... Or so said Indycar.com. More boost and the right conditions and at least a lap at 230 on Pole Day might be in play.

Personally I say open them up and let'em go for the track record.

That was yesterday...

The track record is somewhere over 237, that's imposibile for these cars, tbh,

It's possible for the cars but they would need 700 bhp instead of 600 bhp they get for qualifying.

Quite the heated bit of race practice going on for the past 15 minutes or so.

And Saavedra has the prettiest car at the track.
