I hate Indy SO MUCH I've just begged the venue showing Monaco for F1 In Pubs to NOT show it and put on the 1995 race instead.

BITTER CHAMPCAR FAN RIGHT HERE! :p

Amazing finish, codename is still saying it sucks. Business as usual in open wheel threads.

Here's the inside scoop: it's just a freaking forum, I don't give a shit if you're disappointed or not. I'm not gonna change my preference of racing being about more horsepower than grip and drivers struggling to control powerful machines just to join in with the postgasms.

And to answer your next question: I'm at work and I'm stuck with what freddy49 is showing me. It's literally a choice between this and hollyoaks and even bad racing is better than good hollyoaks :p

Fuck all to do with you preferring horsepower to grip. But basically every single post you make is the same...and that's fine. Until you say something like "I can do that". Yeah sure.

Well no, you're right, I was very silly, wouldn't fit in the cars and would get knackered. I'll clarify:

I could do that (for about 3 laps)

Probably couldn't drive any other racing car for more than 2 corners though. That's the difference.

Hahaha, Hinchcliffe decided to race Hunter-Reay and Briscoe on foot in the pit crew competition.

So, the Lights are the only cars that race at IMS that can go through a corner three wide and not have it go all to shit, who would have thought that.

Is it just me, or all the cars rolling early on the start for this pit crew competition?

I don't care if these cars are running easily flat out. Running 3 wide in the corner at Indy? Not only does that require massive balls, but incredible skill to not cause an almighty accident.

It'll be a long time before we see a finish better than that. Let's enjoy it!

Just watched the Lights finish again.

If that happens in the 500, I will need a new pair of pants, regardless if I shit myself, cream myself, or both.

That won't happen in the 500.

The person to try going 4-wide will end up either in the fence or in the pagoda.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

And not only did they only do that successfully through one corner, but they did it through two! I mean, have we ever really seen anything like that before?

my only observation is we've seen over the years what happens if you run slightly high in the turns at Indy. So how hooked up were these cars that they can run 3 wide without any ground being given?

driver skill believe it or not, not one of them was flat through the corner, that's how Dempsey got such a good run on them (oh and bags of downforce which is your original point I think).

I don't understand what all the whining is about.

I was and still am a diehard CART and ChampCar fan, and I hated everything about the IRL, but right now I love what IndyCar has on the table, and look forward to Sunday and I am sure I won't be disapointed, I have a feeling it's going to be more than epic. People need to let the past in the past and enjoy what they have because it's good.

About the Lights finish, as Ian said, it took a lot of skill and patience from Dempsey to get that run on them regardless of the car and package. And kudos to all of them for a clean battle...

Lets stop argueing and call the finish what it was, a great finish. I have never seen cars go three wide through two turns at Indy, except for pace laps. Peter Dempsey made a great move to the outside to take the win. That was an unreal final lap to see.
