not to mention the up and downs, most of the new track was to be flat.
The old configuration GP track was to be bulldozed iirc, this proposal was only put forward because of some NIMBY on the estate were starting to gather support from the local council but the change in Government meant a change in local council/MP control and the threat went away.

Yeah, they'd utilise the land down towards Scratchers Lane (?) and turn the original GP track into a nature reserve or something silly, around that time there was quiet some serious threat to Brands, I remember they even had sound restrictions on the school days and all the cars had to be fitted with stupid silencers to comply, it was something like 75db on weekdays and 106 db on racedays.

After each race, cars were randomly tested to make sure we were complying with the sound restrictions.

Yes that's right. The fields behind The Kentagon are mainly used as car parks and would have changed the circuit from Brands Hatch, to Brands Flatch...

Yeah, I'll get my coat.

Foulston's plans are interesting - would like to have seen a pit lane built on Pilgrim's Drop.

I thought the trees were listed as 'Do not touch under pain of being fisted to the gall bladder by Sevenoaks Council'?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

depends, each Council has it's own rules, for instance you have to apply for a TPO in R&B, but in Crawley they are applied on all trees regardless (i.e. you have to get permission to do anything other than simple trimming), but like most things related to Governments & Local Councils, a bucket load of money will normally make those problems go away, even on Green Belt land doesn't it Mr Chilton? ;)

It's been brought to my attention that there is a Japanese F4 series that allows constructors to buy a base kit and built body parts around it. Again, the Japanese show the way, and the rest of the world just ignores them.

If FFord actually does go slicks and wings then it deserves to die.
There's a championship that has a great USP and decides to ignore it in favour of fitting in with everyone else...
Well, BULL.......SHIT....

Of all the championships I wish it could be preserved because of its rich history, but it doesn't look like the finances of motor racing respect an illustrious history does it?

I think that's a pretty new series. The chassis are supplied by Dome and some company called B-Max I think. I read about it ages ago, but had no idea if it got started or not. You can buy body parts, or build your own. Dome even made some examples which were a bit mental.

Well, all the cars have been sold, so it should be a full field.

Hopefully other series won't suffer as a result.

I give it four years before he gets bored and creates another championship.

Perhaps his next enterprise should be a dedicated TV station that only shows his own series. He could call it MotorSportVision.

He definitely shouldn't be Palmer-ing it off on some low budget channel like Motors TV...

The first round is this weekend at Silverstone. 21 cars entered.

Did anyone else watch the coverage? Was recording the end of the BTCC so thought I might as well, racing looked reasonable, though 3 races edited into a 1 hour programme will always look quite action packed. Not sure if they were supporting another series but there were barely any spectators at all at the circuit.

I think they were racing quite early in the morning on the WEC weekend....

And yeah, for all my bitching the racing was decent, not hard on a flowing track like new Silverstone tho.

Still on FFord's side tho, but this wasn't as bad as I feared.
