For what it's worth, it was promising.

I read it was around 20,000. Probably would've been better without the rain delay.

3,000 people watched the race on Sky Sports 3.

Yep, three thousand.

Where do you get Sky figures from?

I read that even the Indy 500 only got 28.000 viewers on Sky. In the Netherlands it was watched by around 180.000 people, but there it was on a regular channel and not pay TV.

Someone posted them on Atlas. I believe he gets them from BARB. They're usually fairly accurate.

Made me think though, more people read some of my articles than watch an IndyCar race in the UK

The TV coverage threads on either Atlas or DS.

Sounds like Huewen is hinting that IndyCar may be finished on Sky at the end of the year. Thank God.

Hopefully a DTL channel picks it up and gives it the ratings it deserves.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Of course it isn't.

But that's not to say it couldn't generate a following.

Totally, and especially given the UK has drivers that do bloody well in the series it's a shame it's not higher, but I guess there is the whole 'no skill ovals' perception etc etc crap to contend with

Exactly. The most coverage IndyCars got in the UK was when Wheldon was killed.

We've got Dario, Justin Wilson, Mike Conway over there. Very good racing drivers.

I think a lot of people don't get oval racing and just view it as 'Shit F1', whereas if it was spruced up a bit - ie, heavier promotion and maybe on SSF1, it could get a bigger following.

For me, the biggest downfall was failure to innovate for 4 years after the merger. People saw the product in 2008-9, thought screw this, and looked elsewhere.

Now, when the racing IS good again, so is F1 (By comparison to the last few years), and even though it's pure Open Wheel racing again, compared to the gimmickfests of the old car and F1, it's gonna take tine to rebuild the positive image, and time is a commidity hard to come by.

I wouldn't get too excited, it'll just change from one pay channel that no-one watches to a different pay channel that no-one watches.

Premier sports or ESPN, mark my words! :p

Yeaa that'll probably happen. If Premier Shites get it then you can bet streams will be shut down more regularly. They boasted about doing that to NASCAR streams.

Then they did a pretty lousy job of it tbh

Maybe too busy boasting and not enough actual shutting down! :p

You better start writing about IndyCar too, then.
