I didn't watch the race, only the highlights and DAMN, that was some great oval racing! The DW12 is awesome! 8)

e: Wilson and Dale Coyne really deserved a victory and it came with a great drive and a little luck from Rahal's mistake.

I have never been so dissapointed to sleep through two alarms. After 18 hour days this week, missed the race now, then again for the first half of the first replay...

Comeone RFM! I wanna download a race for once!!!

After reading this thread, I can take heart in the fact that that IndyCar WORKS on the 1.5s. Unfortunatly, only 4.5 people proberbly watched it on TV :(

Basically said over the radio he felt sorry for the fans that it was such bad racing, at least according to him...

Most awesome race indeed. :D

Pitiful crowd though. :(

What is it in America, quality of race has an inverse correlation with popularity of series? :p

To be fair, NASCAR was selling out races when the racing was good.

The fans will be back. Michigan used to play to pact houses in the early 90's when the Indycars were there and Saturday's race reminded me a lot of the good ole days. Cars were tight, loose, sliding all over and the skill of the driver to hang onto them made the difference, just like back then.

Give me 500 miles in the heat of July at Michigan with this package (with more HP) and I gurantee you a race for the ages.

That really was a great race.

That was a good race, hope they keep going in this direction with the intermediate oval package. It was great to see them actually have to 'drive' their way around a big oval again and having to take some care of tires, as it should be. Bodes well for Fontana.

And in fairness to Kendall, he was referring to the old CART days when he made his 'some of these drivers have gone 250 mph into the corners at California, Michigan' comment. In 98 back when Franchitti and Kanaan were racing, the pole speed at Fontana was 234 mph for example, so they had to be going atleast 250 into the turns.

So?

In actual news...

Quote:
2 #IndyCar penalties: Wilson docked 5 points, Dale Coyne fined $7,500 for not complying with the sidepod top deck aerodynamic element.

I'd really like to see the photos that came from this official photographer from the race....

I've managed to blag my way into a number of places, but this is on the verge of taking the biscuit!

I have worked or been to all of the races at TMS since it opened. The indycar crowd this weekend was down a bit looking up at the grand stand from my rescue truck but, Texas still is one of the largest races for indycar. The one race during the week that was terrible for the crowd was the Friday night truck race. I have never seen the grandstand so empty it was really sad.

Does anyone know the price of the truck/Indycar ticket prices from this past week. I wonder if Eddie lowered the price comparable to other previous events.

dunno what general admission was (or is that these prices?) but this is the seating plan prices:

Looking at that the Indycar race was more expensive than the Truck race.

It would appear that ego's will decide the future fate of the Indycar event though:

Indycar should be more expensive...it's the main event.

Speaking of riots, one's about to happen because Wilson and Carepenter's cars weren't legal and they were give slap-on-the-wrist fines instead of being DQ'd. "Popular win" > "making a mockery of the sport, again".

WTF? First Randy leaks momentum-killing news the day before Indy that owners want him out, then after what almost everyone says was a great race they dick around with blatant rules violations. You couldn't be more stupid if you tried.

Oh...bollocks :(

If Indycar was run on egos alone, it'd be the most popular sport in the world, let alone motorsport...
