This year I felt this edition has passed too quick....haven't checked numbers yet, but it went too fast...

Anyway, nobody uploaded ABC's Intro for Indy 500 this year...have been searching and nothing was found. Was there Delta Force on intro or not? Every f*cking year fans ask for a Delta Force intro and ABC ignores it completely, what a sin!

Hadn't felt that excited over a finish in a very long time. Shame Sato crashed, but still amazing stuff.

Exciting finish indeed. Indy always seems to throw up some kind of major talking point.

2 hours 58 minutes, about the same as the 2000 race, a couple of minutes longer than last year's race.

The fifth fastest 500 (full 200 laps) with an avg. of 167.734 mph. The 4 fastest races are 2011, 1986, 1991 and 1990, the latter being the fastest ever with an avg. of 185.981 mph, about 2 hours and 41 minutes long.

Nice finish

But if it was me driving, Franchitti would be in the wall witch is the place he deserve. Or DQ if I was the Marshall. That was blocking, he squeezed Sato up to the apron.

People wanna know why so many are angry at Dario winning? He's just not very likeable. He has a movie star wife, his owner is the most evil of the evil owners, he's dull, and he always seems to show up out of nowhere when a good guy story is looking at a win and rips it away from them. That said I think he was well in his rights on the last lap.

I can't see any good guy stories he's ruined really? I suppose if you buy into the Power lovefest then it could be said he ruined the 2010 Championship, but that was more Power bottling it and crashing trying to keep up. And he never really came from no where to get that one either.

My memory for races outside of the championship deciders and 500s is a bit crap, but I can't think of anything he 'ruined'.

And yeah, fuck him for having a movie star wife. It's not the fact her interviews suck, it's that he has a movie star wife! That's almost as bad as having an index finger.

TAKUMA SATO
“What an incredible weekend. Not only the weekend, but it was also an incredible month of May. I was going for the win. On the last restart, we jumped from seventh to fifth, then taking fourth, third, second. I kept pushing and overtaking. On the very last lap I had a good tow from Dario (Franchitti). I thought I had the job done. But he kept pushing and didn’t give me enough room so that I was well below the white line. But it was an outstanding job by the team. It was a very exciting race. I was calm when I was leading. I knew there were many laps to go and I was following team protocol. The last 30 laps were pretty exciting. The two yellows in 30 laps gave us some good opportunities to move forward. The moment I was alongside Dario I said to myself ‘Job done.’ I was hoping that coming out of Turn 1 side-by-side with Dario we would take the lead going to Turn 2 and Turn 3. It didn’t work out that way though. He could have given a little bit more space and we would have come out of the corner no problem. Into Turn 1 I was well below the white line. It was in the center of the monocoque. I was almost in the grass and the car started sliding.”

Heartbroken to not even get through the 1st stint without be betrayed by my engine. 7 months of work to put it all together. Unimpressed.

I'm finally watching the broadcast now, and I have to say that these restarts are absolutely as mental as they looked from the grandstand.

Every single restart, I was expecting a wreck. Good on the drivers for not wrecking.

Yeah, they seemed like they used their heads while at the same time act like they're racing.

It'll be interesting to see how he goes at Fontana.

To quote you, and Joe below you.. These are the same girls that said "no thanks" to double file restarts because of their danger. Really. I was there last year and the ones today were 100x worse than the double filers. I know when Robin Miller interviewed Beau Barfield on Carb Day he said they reacted too soon on the double file starts, and they will be back next year. They got it right with the pace car on track, but the drivers just lagged back and still made a run at it. Want it safe and sane? Make NASCAR rules. No falling back off the pace car, and no advancing your position before the start finish line. That will keep the starts in line. I thought it was sad to see Marco and I believe Briscoe at one point, as leaders, getting swarmed by the pack of cars before the start finish line simply because the race was green. IMO still better than the old style turn 3 restarts.

According to weather.com.. 92. But apparently at the Speedway itself, only 91. Here's the story of another record just missed by this amazing race.

http://www.wthr.com/story/18635453/indy-500-in-the-books-but-heat-isnt-a-record

Ironically up here in northwest Indiana, our observed high was 98. It was never more than 71 in my house though. :D
