The nose does not seem to be part of the aero kits. That's a shame imo...

Nose is actually a very good part of current kit. Good to see that they gave them a lot of room for improvement.

It's exactly what all the fans of Indycars have been screaming for!

Give the drivers +900hp like back in the day, increase the weight by 100kg at the same time and stay away from high-bank ovals that anyone can take flat. Make a few events worth of million dollars and have the Triple Crown revived. The Mazda young drivers system is working, now we need rookies from the sprint cars too.

I don't know what IndyCar teams think they are doing, all USAC talents are drifting away. Clauson really is one to watch, looking forward to what he's going to do on sunday.
Larson, Elliot etc are all off to stock cars. Daly, Rossi went to Europe.

Larson really is one to watch. Ganassi signed him so who knows. Stewart/Gordon type of talent there.

Indycar teams can be very stupid sometimes. If you can sling a 1200lbs, 900+HP sprint car around a dirt 1/2 mile at 100+mph then you can surely pilot one of these over-downforced under-powered indycars. Clauson will be just fine. Indy reached out and made sure the kid had respect for it on Pole Day.

Now, the problem with securing young USAC, WoO or other high horsepower short track experience are the roadcourses. That's an entirely different set of skills that have to be honed over time, which most car owners aren't willing to give young talent, which is also why they head to Europe/Latin America to find their drivers. Road racers can adapt to ovals far faster than oval racers can adapt to road courses.

With that said, talent is talent, and if someone gives Clauson a full season of seat time and a little patience, we could well have an American in Indycar the style of the old gaurd and that's one of the things Indycar needs in order to bring the casual fans back. Give them a kid they can root for who runs up front. If Clauson can drag that thing from the back of the grid to the top 5 with 50 laps to go on Sunday that place will go mad.

CART was always run by the team owners with a puppet figurehead as the front man/fall guy.

Bahar suspended from Lotus role
May 25, 2012

Dany Bahar, who spearheaded the relaunch of the ex-Renault Formula 1 team as Lotus, has been suspended from his role as chief executive officer of the automotive group.

A statement issued by Group Lotus parent company DRB Hicom confirmed the move today. Bahar had been due to attend the opening of a new Lotus Originals store in Monaco this afternoon, but canceled at the last minute.

"Group Lotus plc ("Lotus") can today confirm that, following an operational review, chief executive Dany Bahar has been temporarily suspended from his role to facilitate an investigation into a complaint about his conduct made by Lotus' penultimate parent company, DRB-Hicom Berhad," said the statement.

A spokesperson for DRB Hicom confirmed to the Norwich Evening News that "it is business as usual at Lotus" following Bahar's suspension.

According to Autocar, Dato' Lukman Ibrahim, Mohd Khalid Yusof and Aslam Farikulla have taken over the running of Lotus, with Rusman Zaihan assisting them.

The Lotus name first came back into F1 with the current Caterham team, which ran as first Lotus Racing and then Team Lotus in 2010 and 2011. Ahead of last season, Bahar agreed a deal for the car company to sponsor the ex-Renault team, which now competes as Lotus in F1.

You can't put all the blame of IndyCar teams, when the purses are so low, the cars aren't cheap to run and huge sponsors are not interested. They'd obviously go for a driver (foreign or not) with a lot of money instead of a young talent without any.

And those young guys, it's a lot more attractive career wise to go the stock car route, where they could make a lot more money than they ever would in IndyCar (without needing a lot of money, or any at all), and they don't have to deal with a lot of road courses, which many of them haven't raced on even once.

Yes, if they're coming to Europe, fucking let us know!

I'll even let you win the arguement, as it was CART that came over, not IRL ;)

Tsingtau was a german colony in the 1890s until WWI. When you go to Qingdao, as it's called today, you find a lot of old buildings from that time that look extremely german. That's all I wanted to say. Yeah, CART in 2001 an 2003 doesn't count - I was tallking about Indycars.

Details on wher the series want from the new Indy Lights car:
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/99864

Quote:
IndyCar has released the first details of its new Indy Lights car, which is scheduled to debut for the 2014 season.

The series has run the current Dallara chassis since 2002, and while no chassis or engine supplier has yet been finalised, series technical director Vince Kremer said that five or six companies were currently looking at proposals.

Design elements to be incorporated into the new car include:

• New chassis is to reflect current contemporary race car design. Chassis must be adaptable to compete on road, street and oval circuits with a minimum of facility-specific parts.

• New chassis to surpass all current FIA static and impact regulations while having the flexibility to accommodate a broad spectrum of drivers and seating positions. Improved aerodynamic performance that must also allow for enhanced sponsor placement opportunities on the car.

• Improved technological package to include but not limited to: paddle shifting, data systems and sensors.

• Potential to integrate an alternative fuel source.

"With our premium on safety, our goal is to develop a car that is technology relevant to the new IndyCar," said Kremer. "It is our intent to remain a spec series, as it creates the right platform to identify driver talent and contain costs. While it is important for us to gain a manufacturer badge for the engine and receive the endorsement of the auto industry, we want to make sure it is done in the right economic structure for our teams."

With Lola out I can't see how Dallara will not get the nod for this.

At least we may get some decent proposal from other companies with ideas that can be used by Dallara if they are the ones who will eventually build the cars.

They price cars at 1/100,000th of their real-world price, which seems cool when you get a kart for a nickel, less so when you see their prices for race cars or Bugattis. The Indycar is $8.62, but they will at least not make you pay for it twice if you buy the full game whenever it comes out.

Also, it looks like they didn't ask Dan or Dario about the engine size this year, or push-to-pass...

If Lola, Reynard, Panoz, and Swift were all at peak operating condition, I would still think Dallara is the runaway favorite with the factory in Indy.

Don Panoz probably won't even submit anything anyways. If I became stupid rich though I'd bring back Reynard.

Swift's proposal was pretty epic (for Indycar).

Rear wing endplates look a little familiar.

Indycar could return to South Florida for next year's season finale, on a street course in Fort Lauderdale

I really doubt that Simtheifway will be that good... It's come out too quickly to really be clasified as anything more than an arcade came...
I'll try out IMS though, see how it feels to the iRacing version.
