The fact that it was a one-car incident and well away from the racing surface made a huge difference though. It didn't necessitate a red flag or a particularly long cleanup, thus the race was already well back underway by the time it was announced. Might as well have ended the race and let the drivers know afterwards. It wasn't as imperitive in that situation either. Those cars were ungodly fast but that was the only real concern. Today we have a bunch of cars that like to fly, racing on a track that isn't suitable for the chassis. Also, there are still almost 20 cars remaining, so the threat of another serious incident still looms large.

Locking the IndyCar thread was a bad (horrible) decision, compared to Justin.TV or Twitter, the TBK folks are pretty decent. That's all I have to say now, I'm going offline. :)

However I think people should know the tweet reported to have come from Ashley Judd was faked...
That's being retweeted about twitter and you can see from her own feed that no such tweet existed.

Makes you wonder about the kind of person who would do that

No real bad-taste was going on in the thread. Talking about this is something that some people need to handle the stress of not knowing, preventing them to do that is stupid. Everyone was praying and having respect for Dan. If you don't like the speculating, just don't open the freaking thread.
