Actually, that's the reason why nothing will be done for Conway. There isn't enough sponsor backing on the #27 to buy someone out (Mann) of their ride.

Thought so. Dirty business.

I hope Conway goes to a better team next year. AA is too built around the two lesser drivers.

Everyone is throwing stones at Mikey Andretti...but what did he do exactly? He went to his drivers sponsors and got him a seat in the 500.

What about AJ Foyt? He was the guy who sold Junkies ride out from underneath him. He did not have to say ok to Michael's deal. Nobody is saying fuck you AJ for taking the money and essentially screwing Bruno out of racing.

i do sorta agree with you but when it comes down to it andretti screwed up he hasnt been on top of his game for a while now. he's letting danica's money get in the way of having good drivers. he needs to focus on a couple good cars rather than 5 ok cars. not to mention he's runing 4 cars i believe in indy lights. hes spreading himself way too thin.

heres a press release on the details. it says that the car will have sponsors from both teams on it.

New Indy traditions...

So if Sunday is "Bump Day" and Friday is "Carb Day" Then today (Monday after Bump Day) must be Checkbook Day.

Shane, I do believe that someone at DHL/Sun Drop lite a fire under Mikeys ass to do something so he went shopping. I hope no one throws RHR under the bus on this. In the end a unhappy sponsor flexed their muscle and Mikey blinked. Shame on Mikey and Foyt but in the end it's all on Mikey. There is no excuse for a team like that to run as poorly as they did. PERIOD! This is completely different then Penske not making the show in 1995. Penske was not running in a spec series with resources like AA.

Andretti's poor management keeps on going with Conway's strategist Tom Anderson being sacked.

Not to mention this is the same team that won long beach a month ago. Mikey is crazy. Hope someone picks up tom soon.

Tom Anderson has been the director of competition with AA for the two years AA sucked at Indy so I'm not surprised he got sacked.

That's the way the cookie crumbles at Indy. It sucks, but racing's a business and you're not there to make friends.

Firing Anderson is a bit much. I don't really agree with that. RHR put it best in his interview, Andretti Autosports's problems started long before they unloaded the cars at Indy.

The only Andretti worth a damn is Mario. Michael's a whiny little bitch and Marco's a spoiled douchebag.

Great to see that Kanaan's influence is hugely missed in that team. They are able to manage themself on road courses, but they are nowhere on ovals.

When Danica leaves for NASCAR next year, so will GoDaddy and AA will only run Marco and perhaps RHR if his current (or new) sponsors stay on board. Without GoDaddy, Conway is not going to stay in AA for 2012

So could someone give me a quick run down on what Andretti did wrong?

(Seriously, I don't have time to wade through 39 pages lol)

It truly is a shame that Junqueira is out again, but then again this stuff can only happen at Indy500 qualifying. It's not that common as it seems today, but I think it makes the event just a bit more special. Bump Day already is something unique, but having slight chance for mixing the field after that is always welcome - as long as the changes won't happen because of injuries or penalties.

Also, Checkbook Day sounds a good name for the day after Bump Day.

Andretti has been slow at Indy the past two years and this year RHR and Conway didn't make the cut.
So AJ Foyt sold out Bruno's seat to Mikey aka The Anti-Christ because the sponsors had a meeting with Andretti to make sure RHR had a ride.
