I reckon they should look at making a TV deal with ITV here in the UK - now ITV have lost F1 and with it GP2, A1GP would make a good replacement and after a few seasons may begin to become a rival to F1.

A1GP and Sky have just signed a new three-year deal.

As long as A1 isn't broadcast on FTA TV they have no hope of even thinking of rivalling F1. In that respect Bernie was smart. Isn't it most nations you get F1 on FTA TV even if the commentators are dire?

Highly doubt they believe themselves that they could rival F1, nothing will (until it kills itself from the inside). Still a very young series and this year will be extremely important for its future, particularity with the new car with massive backing and some much more impressive sponsors entering the mix. TV rights will follow accordingly but you can't really expect it to go full FTA when you would get such minimal viewing.

Not here. Not live at least. To watch it live you also have to get an extra channel apart from the basic cable set. I got sick of paying for it as it didn't had any other motorsport but lots of football and i don't care about that. Stream it is for me. ITV or SPEED :D

Here theyre both on same pay channel. If F1 is at the same time, they show it delayed.

Here it is live in Pay TV (Fox Sports), and for the FTA TV, they always have (on a secondary channel) from 12:30 to 13:00 a summary of NASCAR Nationwide, then from 13:00-14:30 a summary of F1 (6 hours delayed) or A1 GP Summary (F1 is priority) or NASCAR Mexico live from 13:30 to 15:00.

Fortunately I have Pay TV and don't have to see the summaries, but can see the races live (A1 on SPEED Latin America)

Anyway it still needs more coverage and the team needs to improve...I mean, almost all the country knows who is Adrián Fernández (our best driver in the last 20 years), while Mario Domínguez (CART era), Michel Jourdain Jr (CART era), Luis Díaz (CART era and Grand-Am 2nd) and Memo Rojas (Grand-Am champion) are known as well, but of them, just Michel and Luis drove the car...Michel for 2-3 events and Luis for just 1, and the team sucked...Salvador Durán was unknown but became known after his excellent job (he LEAD the championship!) but in-team conflicts made it all go to the trash can: They changed team (which was starting to suck, anyway), argued with TELMEX (bye money and bye Durán) and the team started to fight with Lebanon, Pakistan and Indonesia instead of Germany, France and Great Britain as it was doing...

The problem is that the Mexican Motosport needs an IDOL...The idol that were the Rodríguez brothers, Moisés Solana, Josele Garza and Héctor Rebaque (this 2 in a lower scale) and then the idol that became Adrián Fernández. When Adrián raced CART, all of his races were shown live on National TV and he was even given the front page of the papers (like 350 days of the year it's football-literally), so he became runner-up and he brought CART to México, which was the event that attracted more people in all of the calendar from 2001 (first Monterrey) to 2003, and in 2004, he went to IRL and the IRL races weren't shown live, so the CART neither and the Mexican event started to fall down...

Now we have Memo Rojas as Grand-Am champion but he can't be idolized because he will never receive a front page of the papers, and never even 5 minutes of his races will be shown on National TV. He won the 24 hours of DAYTONA and he was mentioned for 30 seconds in the sport news, and for the rest of the races of the year, ZERO until today (because he crowned yesterday) when he was given another shitty 30 seconds on the National news and the Sport News.

Fortunately, I look at Esteban Gutiérrez and I see somneone that is 17 and is already testing A1 and received the paper's front page last Monday (first auto racing front page since 2004-Adrián) and already a champion in Europe and see the next Mexican driver in F1 and the next Mexican idol...

But by now, A1 GP is not popular at all here...And still won't be as they continue to be defeated by EVERYONE :x

A1GP Scores Big on New TV Deals

London, Great Britain – A1GP World Cup of Motorsport is due to hit the ground running with a full line of up of both new and renewed TV deals ensuring continued worldwide exposure for the series that kicks off Season Four in less than a month.

Commenting on the new agreements, A1GP's Director of Broadcast, Richard Dorfman said: “A1GP continues to attract new broadcasters around the globe along with our original family of carriers which have been with us since our inception. This is testament to the growing popularity and acceptance of the series by many of the worlds most highly viewed channels.”

A1GP has taken a major leap forward in Italy with the commitment of RAI. The national broadcaster, which hosts several channels, will broadcast all the races in Season Four in their entirety either live or slightly delayed. Complementing the new deal in Italy, A1GP is pleased to announce the signing of NT1 France, along with their channels such as Men and Motors, which will air the series in full.

Sky Sports, one of the top sports broadcasters in Europe and Five UK have both extended their agreements to broadcast the series. Sky Sports has extended its contract for a further three seasons and will continue to broadcast live coverage of Saturday qualifying and Sunday’s races while Five will continue its highlights package in its regular late night sports slot within a week of the race.

In addition, Pan-Asian broadcaster, ESPN Star Sports (ESS) which reaches more than 30 countries and territories in the region has also signed a renewal. Other new carriers include TEN Sports India and TV1 Indonesia who join a continuing group of broadcasters including Fox Sports Australia, RTL Holland, Sport TV Portugal and SABC, to name but a few.

Through its network of broadcast partners across the globe, A1GP fans will be able to follow the series in over 150 countries worldwide as the new cars prepare to line up on the grid for the very first time at A1GP Zandvoort, Netherlands on 4-5 October.

News Paper wrote:
Narain Karthikeyan wont make it to the starting grid at inaugural A1GP at Zandvoort, Netherlands on Sunday.
Shockingly, its not only team India, but more than half of the 24 teams that will suffer the same fate due to the delay in production of the cars. With barely five days to go before the season-opening race, the bare minimum line-up of cars, which could be as low as six, has become a big embarrassment for the race organisers.
The A1GP was supposed to have taken a big step ahead this year with the introduction of the powerful Ferrari engines. This meant that all the 22 cars had to have a new chassis. The cars were manufactured in the UK under the banner of A1GP using various suppliers. :p
Speaking about the delay, Team India CEO Andaleeb Sehgal said, Due to circumstances beyond the control of Team India, there has been delay in the build programme of the new cars, and Team India car has been affected. As a result, the team will to not be able to take part in the Zandvoort race.
Armaan Ebrahim, who will be the rookie driver in A1 Team India, termed the development as unfortunate. We are surprised at the turn of things. We obviously did not expect such a scenario, he said. He however said that since other teams too were affected there was nothing they could do about it.
Ann Bradshaw, spokesperson for A1GP, said that the delay in the manufacture of components was the problem. We came up with our schedule that in the perfect world was right for the tests and the first race. But some components took longer to manufacture than others and we wanted to produce a car that would be reliable and safe so we would not compromise, she said. We have to have a car that will last for three years and follow in the footsteps of the A1GP car in all areas. It has meant that those whose cars were at the end of the build schedule have not had the components to complete the project, she added.
The delay comes against the background of reports that A1GP has been struggling on the money front. Recently, a top executive of the majority stakeholder in the series was recently removed. It is reported that the executive was criticised for several bad investments which took place during his tenure, including the one in A1GP.
Both Sehgal and Bradshaw put up a brave face by claiming that things would get better during the second race. The situation we find ourselves in is unfortunate, but the morale of the team is high and we are focused on competing at the next race at Chengdu, China and through the rest of the season, Sehgal said.
Bradshaw meanwhile insisted that the delay had nothing to do with the introduction of new Ferrari engines. It is just a late build of the chassis. We have all the engines and they were delivered on time, she said.

So Ferrari have accomplish their commitment. :eyecrazy:
Less than 15 car on track for first race :whistling:
