On the dyno, mid November they'll have a running engine.

Also, Michael Shank Racing confirmed that they're with Lotus, and Cavin's reporting (finally) that HVM is going with Lotus too.

Still you'd expect Newman/Haas to be Lotus' flagship next year.

the brazilian network that broadcasts IndyCar in Brazil apparently abandoned the series...for no reason they simply abandoned the series.

It was acceptable that the free-to-air channel sacrificed the IndyCar live because of brazilian football championship (most live races were exactly in the same time that the football matches - but we didn't complain that much, we know football is the most popular sport and etc etc...But I think the definitive punch on the stomach was abandoning the races live on BandSports channel...that was absolutely crazy! So basically, IndyCar died to brazilian public since Toronto, this is not acceptable. How many sponsors are involved on it? What about the São Paulo Indy 300 that all sponsors and the TV guys are so proud to mention?! If I were Indy president, I'd take out brazilian race of 2012 schedule, this is an absurd!!! This is one big disservice to a series that's trying to recover the large audiences again. We not gonna watch Vegas live and not even in recorded version....we'll have to watch through internet...

In 2007, Viasat Sport showed the races, but abandoned their contract during the season. 3 days before the season final. So I had to watch that epic battle between Franchitti and Dixon on a stream.

But the fact that Band Group abandon IndyCar causes particular strangeness because they've been involved in showing the series to brazilian public since Emmo Fittipaldi's times in mid 80's, they're involved on the business for decades. The only time period they didn't show IndyCar was between 1994-2001 when SBT broadcasted it (by the way considered the best Indy/CART boradcast ever seen in brazilian tv, because they had a huge partnership with the north-american ABC). But Band kept showing the sport with the IRL since 1997, and that time they ignored football live to show the races (that time it was only ovals with barely no brazilian driver on the race) that's the weirdest thing. It's a huge lack of respect with brazilian IndyCar fans...ignore the series like they're doing this year, I don't remember anything close to that.

You are probably going to get some races on SPEED. The spanish language feed has been showing the Versus races since last year.

SPEED in Brazil doesn't show IndyCar, exactly because Indy have a contract with Band Group. The contract wasn't broken yet.

It's a pity because SPEED does a superb NASCAR coverage in portuguese aswell as in spanish. It's the best NASCAR coverage in the World, perhaps behind only the North-american tv. If only they could buy IndyCar rights.

Those new cars are starting to grow on me, but those airboxes really stick out like a sore thumb.

Yes, the part of it called IndyCar, anyhow.

Jokes? No, never a joke. Was serious.

In 1996 I didn't give the IRL the time of day. THen drivers started getting seriously injured pretty much every other race and I hoped it would flame out on its own pretty quick as drivers smartened up and kept away. But for every driver that left there were 2 more waiting.

Only if you had your head in the sand! People have been saying that they were long overdue for a big one where not everyone walked away but time after time by miracle and miracle alone they did. Now it happened and nobody should be surprised.

[/quote]I am not shocked. I am not upset. I'm beyond being angry. Look at that Robin Miller quote and at others today in the news -- everyone involved thought it was crazy but they all STUPIDLY figured "it" would happen to someone else.

Thomas Schekter was on Twitter Monday saying from now on he will make sure this never happens again. Too little too late.

Perhaps if you think it's so easy you should submit design specs to Indycar.

Take your pick. Just make them as stiff and safe as any other 2011 open-wheeler.

I'm glad that few in racing share your attitude. Taking action only after a tragedy is a sad inevitability of the human condition, but to not take action to prevent it happening again because it's "too little too late" would be absolutely inhuman.
