I've heard that from the English point of view, whenever someone from Wales/Scotland do well they are from the UK but when they go bad they are from Wales/Scotland

People joke but it's actually true. When Andrew Murray does well he's the "Top Brit". When he does badly he's an arrogant Scot. It's not just newspapers like The Sun that do it either, the fucking BBC does it. Even as a Scot I find it more funny than offensive, and it isn't something that really bothers me, but it isn't as much of a made up thing as people think. It was particularly bad with the DC era. He was the British hope for a title, until the end of the season when they broke out the "LOL DC SAYS IT'S HIS YEAR! SILLY SCOTTISH MAN!"

The IndyCar driver nationality thing happened in CART too. Franchitti was Scottish, Blundell was British, and Justin was English.

Just saw the race. Pretty good. I wanted Power to win the title, though.

Yeah it works the other way too, I love winding the Mrs up with it, "Dario is a good British driver" is usually enough
Trouble is nobody know's she Scottish cos she's been down here so long she's lost the accent, another thing I wind her up over, but when she get's annoyed there's no doubt over where she hails from.

Sparks.... Just a few of them!!!!

Thing is, ive always been afan of both Frsnchitti and Wheldon... I grew up in Milton Keynes, and while Stewart/Jaguar/RBR were doing well once a blue moon, we has really good coverage of Wheldon, as well as Danica for a bit in our local paper, which I thought to be refreshing, and Franchitti became a favourite of mine when he was in the #27 machine, my favourite numver. It never crossed my mind that they were british, and national pride never really entered the equasion with Dario, although it may have done with Wheldon

Power was so close to winning the championship.

His mistake looked pretty avoidable. :o
