Barnhart's "reviewing the footage" right now.

Not that anyone may care but Rahal on twitter just said:

'I guess that was some excitement. Congrats to Ganassi again. Helios definitely blocked i'd say. Fun end to the race though.'

Replace Earl Weaver with Helio Castroneves and Bill Haller with Brian Barnhart and there you go.

I'm surprised he's not reviewing foot-up-his-ass.

That was sad. How is that blocking?

Its not. Blocking is when you move your vehicle over lanes of traffic, to impede another driver. Helio came out of the corner, went all the way to the inside line, and held his car the whole straightaway there. Awful call.

In fairness, he did swing wide about 8-10 feet to widen the arc for the corner - but not until after Power had already swung wide to take his chosen line for the corner. Especially in this case, where the track is 100 feet wide, we can't be pussying around saying a 10 foot move when you have 50 feet to the next nearest car is blocking - especially when it has zero effect on the progress of the other car.

The rule has been taken completely too far since Indy - it's time for Barnhart to go.

If someone tries a "I can do three-wide all by myself" move like Kyle Busch did at Talladega a few years ago, that's blocking. If you swing 8-10 feet to widen an arc for a corner on a 100-foot wide track, and the other guy's also swung wide, that's not blocking.

Horrible end to the race, which for the most part, was not too bad.

I don't see how that decision can stand tbf. Bedtime, but when I awake, I hope some sense has hit the IRL world.

Mike Conway was in the Sky Sports studio tonight & he didn't think that was blocking either, Johnny Mowlem didn't either.

If that call stands then I'd like Barnhart to tell everyone exactly why he feels that was a block & explain whats now considered acceptable.

Whats with all these Indy Car drivers trying to claim this is a fair decision? Are these guys so spoilt from the terrible rules that they can no longer race without crying about it?

These guys should be forced to go wheel to wheel with people like Montoya and Tony Stewart, then see if they can complain.

Speaking of Montoya, he posted on Twitter: Helio just got robbed a win. If I was supposed to be mad he beats me!!!

The results will stand. You can't appeal a black flag.

A day of politics deciding "racing". How is going lower than normal into a corner blocking? I would say Power's wild move to the left in front of Dixon would be blocking way more than what Castro-Neves did because he surely changed his line.

Odd that their story now says a black flag can't be appealed because just 5 mins ago it said "protests can be filed within 30 mins of the end of the race so stay tuned." Perhaps the series doesn't even know its own rules.
