In other news.....

If I'm correct, there's only 40 days for Engine Manufacturers to commit to 2012... With no one other than Honda saying their in...

... Seeing as we're in Japan, wouldn't it have been the best time for Toyota/Mazda to put their name in????

Mazda's racing arm is run in America, and TRD is American. So no.

TRD US is American, TRD Japan is (shockingly) Japanese.

Do they even have TRD in Japan? Isn't the operation run by Tom's?

I would never have guessed...

And on a serious note, 38 (I Think), days to go, and no one puts in their name till now... Could it be the fact that a Honda engine hasn't broken down in years thats putting people off? I mean, with competition, comes the push for advantage, which as we know.....

Honda's engines are detuned as fuck.

Oh, I know that, and knowing Honda, if they need to squeeze an extra few MPH out, they'll burst into flames, but still...

I just hope the rumors about Ferrari are false...

If by in the running, you mean playing lip service. Nobody has even made the commitment to build the engine yet. Even Honda is dragging their feet, and I don't blame them, TBH. They don't know if they're supplying the whole field or a portion of it.

no engine manufacturers will commit, and nobody will build aero kits bar maybe Penske, great idea in theory, wrong timing economically.

Penske won't, but Lotus will.

Well to be fair, with everything so up in the air, I don't blame them for not committing

Lotus need to come up with the first ever indestructible IndyCar, if they are thinking of having Sato drive... At least his car may last past lap 2... (I still think he and Baguette swapped cars before the race)

I wouldn't bet against Penske, they've been wanting to build their own car again for years.

They've already said they're not going to, reason being that if they did, they'd have to offer their aero package to all the other teams, which would be self-defeating

They've said they won't, but they could change their minds.

Even if they did, it's not like Ganassi will use it... I see the guys in red, and the guys in black (Or yellow, depending on the level of Shell sponsorship) to do one each, and then Panther, and Andretti using one made by someone else.

Helio said last month that it wasn't going to happen.
