I think this series is actually pretty cool. I like the mix of drivers, from the drivers that are well known in the US in oval racing, like Danica Patrick, Wheldon, or Castroneves, to the drivers that I remember watching in things like F3 in Britain, Will Power, Justin Wilson, Mike Conway, Viso etc.

The cars also look more exciting and more physical to drive than F1 cars. I loved the onboard shots from the cars through the carousel last night, especially trying to pass another cars. You really see them working hard at the steering.

Most of the tracks are good too. Tracks like Watkins glen and Sears point are pretty cool places to see these large single seaters racing. More exciting than Bahrain, Valencia anyway.

OK maybe the recent races at Edmonton and Mid-Ohio weren't worth staying up for, but I really enjoyed last night's race. I really hope this series can grow in strength.

Not to mention these cars have traction control.

They finally grew a brain and made the racing entirely better, even though I initially was against the change.

Are you sure? I've always thought they didn't.

EDIT: Motherfucker, they do. That'll make rFactor a bit easier, then.

I don't think they still have Traction Control, they did in 2005 but they banned it when Honda became the sole engine supplier in 2006. I also recall the commentators saying during OnBoard's that they don't have TC.

Will Power's injuries are unfortunately worse than 1st thought according to his father :(
http://www.thechronicle.com.au/story/20 ... mba-racer/
Quote:
Power’s father Bob last night told The Chronicle his son’s injuries were worse than first thought.

“The information we have is still a little vague at the moment,” Mr Power said.

“We do know the injuries were a little worse than what they first thought and they have found more fractures in his back.

“From what we’ve been told they are waiting to make a decision on if or when they will operate on him.”

Bob Power said his son was conscious and moving his arms and legs.

“He’s pretty heavily drugged, but he is conscious. It’s just a waiting game at the moment.”

You've obviously never heard a F3000 hill cimb car before.

Or in the late 1990s.

Jesus those were painful.

Judging from the highlight clip of TK passing Helio, the Versus TV directing was as epic as Mid Ohio. Fortunately I could watch the race on race control which seemed to have different live pictures than those selected by Versus crew. The race control crew mainly focused on the battles plus 4 simultaneous onboard feeds which made it fairly entertaining to watch. The commentating were quite informative too, and in which they mainly discussed the on track action. I'd give race control a 10/10 if there were a poll for that.

Caught the race abit late but really enjoyed it. The first half wasn't anything special but it really got interesting from the final pit stops to the finish. Really happy for Conway. Hes driven well but slipped up when in good positions.

The series may be poorly managed, much slower than F1 and have some token crap drivers (hi Milka!) but it's one of the most enjoyable open wheel series out there. Lets hope the series can grow again.

Race stewards have penalised Marco for driving into Dixon in the final turn.

They dropped Marco back 3 spots to 14th behind Dixon who was moved upto 13th.

Phillipe was also released from hospital today:
