It was the same bloke who did commentary for the hot rods on Sky Sports a few years back. So he does know motorsport, but judging by his very poor commentary today (where he seemed to miss everything that was happening on screen), he isn't used to commentating on racing that isn't on a quarter-mile oval.

You're lucky that you didn't watched the race with dutch commentary. That guy is awful and he even doesn't know how to pronouce names.
