What's the point in 2 series if they can't even get entries for 1?

That would actually be good idea to use the old (current) chassis after the new formula is introduced, in the situation of having a healthy grid in the main series. I think it's possible. The economy will return to normal eventually, and that should help.

Bourdais has given a big hint he won't be in F1 next year and may be heading to the IRL

Could be, though they might go for Wilson over Bourdais.

Which could mean that Sebastien will return to Newman-Hass Racing if they field 2 cars instead of just Rahal's.

EDIT: Well, that's not what Autosport's article says.

Road America or Laguna Seca are 2 that come to mind, both infinately better than Belle Isle in every way!

However this article indicates that tracks in Birmingham, Utah, NashVille or Portland are possibilities:

Also, Grand-Am said something recently about the old Moroso Motorsports Park(where Top Gear did some of their competitions in the American Challenge). Apparently it has been upgraded and may be trying to Grand-Am date. It could also get an Indycar date.

I really doubt they will replace the date. I actually expect there to be more cancellations but I'm hopeful there won't be.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if they canceled the last two races of season due to the gap between each race.

I don't think Honda would be too happy if their race got canned. I can see them moving forward the date of Motegi and hoping Homestead wouldn't mind moving forward.

I just can't see them cancelling dates because of length between them. If they were bothered about length between races they wouldn't have such a massive off season.
