the date won't be replaced unless the IRL rents another track to replace it.

I don't think Honda would be too happy if their race got canned. I can see them moving forward the date of Motegi and hoping Homestead wouldn't mind moving forward.

I just can't see them cancelling dates because of length between them. If they were bothered about length between races they wouldn't have such a massive off season.

Considering the economic situation and Honda troubles, they may not mind. IndyCar does have massive off season but teams layoff certain percentage of their employees after the final race of season. They might not like the fact that they have to keep certain percentage of employees on payroll for another two months for just two races.

Going back to the Detroit issue, it does give me some hope when the Indycar.com article says "the sanctioning body will review venues to fill the void on the 2009 IndyCar Series schedule"

It would be cool to see if they go to a new track.

I'd rather they go to Road America.

Road America yes, but I would prefer Cleveland as PAXTON mentioned at the start of the page.

True, the current car hasn't been up to scratch. But I think it's been in part due to the money and facilities that those who jumped from CART at the time head that might have buggered the racing as well. Certainly seems that they were the ones getting the flips.

Got a little better this year though.

Ever since Bracks flyer into the fence in Texas of 03, and the proceeding death of Tony Renna, the IRL's slowing down of the cars is what dumped the competition.

Though the cars really needed to be slowed, the old fashion style of driving was gone. No more sling-shot moves unless timed PERFECTLY; no more under-funded, no sponsor teams up front, no-more packs of cars with drivers which have actual talent.

It has slowly been coming back though. The 17 car did pretty-well for a 1 car organization. With Wheldon at the 4 car again, it should bring some of Chips secrets with it, and the balls-out driving style (which I absolutely love) of Vitor Meira should spark up the 14 car. I am somewhat eager for 2009.

What I'm more eager for is the new car.

I know but using the old car for now might just help them weather the storm and Dallara have brought down the prices of the parts. And I can't see TG giving up without a fight either.

A1 on the other hand have just introduced a new car which hasn't been all that successful to be honest, they're known to be in deeper money problems then Indycar. If any series doesn't make it it'll be A1GP.

ALMS will survive too. That type of racing always seems to go through bad patches.

I wonder where Champ Car would've been doing in these harsh times :whistling:
