I take it they took the time to listen to Australia's radio communications.

Portugal may have fucked up and Australia might have been a bit slow because of being in the wrong gear but that's still no reason to overtake before the line.

I just had a frame by frame look at the start & no way did Ireland jump it.

USA did start creeping before the lights went out & it also looked like Malaysia crept forward slightly as well.

Ireland wasn't penalised for a jump start, they were penalised for the crew being on the grid too long.

Must admit I had wondered about that, the cars were pretty much leaving the line as their crew was running off

I still don't understand how you can think this. Ireland had already committed to getting up to racing speed when the pack bunched up ahead of him, so his only options were to slam on the brakes, run into the back of Australia or just go past him. I think you'll agree he went for the safest option. You've got to understand that it's all very easy to sit here now saying "Australia were just in the wrong gear, Ireland shouldn't have passed" but Carroll had to make a split second decision based on what he was seeing due to someone else's mistake, and I think he made the right one. If anything Portugal should have been penalised for causing that whole mess.

There's nothing for Portugal to be punished for since he didn't pass the safety car.

Could could easily have slowed down and let Australia back before the line but instead he just gunned it. Lot's of people had split second decisions to make and everyone else managed to fall back behind the car they were supposed to.

Albuquerque did a dangerous manouvre when mistimed the moment of pushing hard for the restart. He could have caused a massive pile up, but nothing happened because the drivers behind took a safe choice. I don't think it's fair to punish Carroll for making a move to avoid a crash he wouldn't even be the major responsible if it happened, although there's a solid argument for punishing him.

It was quite similar to the Hamilton-Webber-Vettel incident at Fuji 2007.
