Rigon is underrated!

I would assume it is Grosjean taking the title with Kobayashi as runner-up.

Hulkenberg will be in top 5, but like JB said, not enough experience to go for the title

I find it highly suspicious that Rigon should jump to the front in a series like Superleague Formula despite having a non-descript career so far and not really being picked up by anyone

he clearly has talent in the more heavy cars like F3000 and SF
I agree he wasn't much of a winner in other classes (F3, FBMW, ...)
but when you put him in a car with much power...

Early to say as there's several testing sessions and specially, lots of people to be confirmed in the teams, but I agree it's likely going to be between Grosjean (best rookie in '08, superquick driver I rate a lot), Kobayashi (looking at testing, he's really coming strong now) and Hulkenberg (I've been highly suspicious of him before but he does have an A1GP and a F3 Euroseries title by now, you don't win that without being fairly talented - put him in a GP2 ART and it will probably result in race wins).

Parente could make a championship bid as well if he gets the Racing Engineering seat, but I'm getting suspicious all the "bad luck" that gets reported by our national websites (like always being blocked in the final hotlap) is bullshit and he just isn't all that impressive on testing again. He did have 2 or 3 very promising races in his rookie year though - needs lots more of that.

And don't forget Maldonado, if he ever finds consistency and calms down a bit he'll be awesome, he's massively quick at his best.

As for Rigon, I'd like to know a bit more before saying anything. At the moment he's just one of many possible rookies to keep a close eye on. Also Pic, Van Der Drift, Bamber, etc etc etc. Way too early to say they're going to win GP2.

I'll be honest, I hadn't heard of Rigon before the Superleague Formula. But he does have a good record- he won Italian F3000 and the F3000 Euroseries last year, before going into sportscars this year.

When the Superleague Formula started, I really thought that it would be Doornbos or Valles or someone along those lines who would dominate. That hasn't been the case. Rigon has been the class of what is a fairly decent field, not brilliant, but good enough, all of whom use equal equipment.

Who will Rigon race for in GP2? I still reckon Charles Pic is the guy to keep a close eye on, hes very good.

about Moldanado:

Maldonado to race for ART in 2009

By Pablo Elizalde (autosport.com) Monday, November 10th 2008, 14:27 GMT

Pastor MaldonadoVenezuelan Pastor Maldonado will race for the ART Grand Prix team in next year's GP2 Series championship, it was announced on Monday.

Maldonado will also compete with the team in three races of the GP2 Asia series this season.

The 23-year-old finished in fifth place in the 2008 championship with Piquet Sports, after a strong end to the season.

Next year, he admits he will be trying to go for the title.

"I am very proud to be part of a team with the most titles and winners in the history of the GP2 Series and of course, I hope to contribute to winning the teams championship again as well as fighting for the drivers' title in the new season," said Maldonado.

"ART Grand Prix is a highly professional team combined with an environment which has great human qualities. We instantly got along together during testing and I am sure that it will be a great experience for both of us: let's learn from each other and make a great team which will be ready to fight for both championships."

Team boss Frederic Vasseur added: "Pastor had an exceptional end to the 2008 season, scoring more points than any other driver and three time as many as the GP2 Europe champion during the last eight races. There is no doubt he is one of the fastest and more complete drivers in the series.

"With his raw speed his experience of the series and his knowledge of the tracks it will make him one of the favourites for the 2009 championship. Pastor and the team got along really well during recent testing at the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit. All the lights are green and our aim will be to secure both titles next season."

ART's Formula 3 Euroseries title winner Nico Hulkenberg is expected to join Maldonado in the GP2 team, forcing the highly-rated Romain Grosjean out of a drive. Nonetheless, it is rumoured Renault will place him at 2008 team champions Campos Grand Prix next year.

Wasn't Speedcar supporting GP2 Asia again this year? Will that series be racing at the next GP2 Asia race? Can't find anything about it, not even on the speedcar website (wich says the first race of 2008/2009 was on october 7 on a TBA circuit :?

Or is this series dead?

Eurosport only got the rights for Speedcar last year midway through the season, maybe a similar thing will happen this year
