GP2 asia 2008-2009 calendar:
October 18/19 Shanghai, China
December 5/6 Dubai, UAE
January 23/24 Sakhir, Bahrain (date non-confirmed)
February 27/28 Dubai, UAE
April 4/5 Sepang, Malaysia
April 18/19 Sakhir, Bahrain

News:

Hamad Al Fardan will drive for iSport.

GP2 will have an engine update.

Any news in Portugal about rumour that says the GP2 final in 2009 will be host by Motorpark of Algarve.

GP3

An unexpected summer news came up from the International Motorsports panorama. As Italiaracing.net can reveal, the International Formula Master will be called GP3 and Race alongside Formula one in at least 5 rounds during 2009. The details are not yet public, but the series, created by Italian Mauro Sipsz, appears to have finalized the talks with the FIA. The International Formula Master will retain its regular partnership with the FIA WTCC in the remaining rounds.

The agreement will also allow the IFM to capitalize the relation with Honda, racing under the eyes of Honda F1's Ross Brawn. Is to remember that the 2008 Champion will have the chance to test an Honda RA108 F1 racecar, building the experience needed to get a super licence.

IFM is also trying to attract even more teams, starting talks with ART and Raikkonen Robertson Racing.

PS:if there is the same number of round next year in IFM/GP3 so we will see only 3 or 2 round in regular partnership with FIA WTCC . :?

GP3 is a stupid idea, and taking it away from the WTCC begs the question, why the hell would anyway go see the WTCC? They won't have good racing to offer anywhere on the bill.

WTCC should fusion again with FIAGT those LG superweekends where pretty cool. Not that FIAGT needs it with the GT3 races in their program.

Maybe that's the whole point

WTCC = FIA, therefore Max
F1/GP2/GP3 = FOM, therefore Bernie

Personally, that sucks. I thought it was a very good track. Just needed some fixing on it's infrastructure.

Track's allright. Facilities weren't. An average of 5 SC laps to remove one single car out of the gravel, because the cranes are absent is not worth a comeback as long it's not sorted out.

On the other hand, tracks like Shanghai, Bahrain, Sepang and Dubai doesn't make things better either. Why bring most races to the middle east when it's called Asia Series. Let them race on Suzuka for instance.

The Sentul track is great, but as people say, they haven't got the proper infrastructure to hold races. Which begs the question how they held two A1GP events without problems tbh.

Suzuka would be cold and shitty. They should just race at Brno or Nurburgring then.

Suzuka would still be better then the circuits that are currently on the calendar.

Yeah. Quite a few tracks in Japan are around. Aida hosts the WTCC soon

I should imagine that Zhuhai is an option as well

Is GP2 Asia on Eurosport 2 again this season? Or did they also loose those rights?

GP3 will run 5 dates on the F1 bill, and 5 on the WTCC bill.

Wouldn't the lack of Japanese round be down to Formula Nippon? I'm not sure of that but it's the same level of motorsport so it may not be worthwhile in some way.
