The first Formula Three championship to take place in the UK was the Autosport F3 championship held in 1951, which was won by Eric Brandon. By 1954, it had evolved into a national-level series and was organised by the British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC). This was the 500cc period of Formula Three, which was active in the UK and other countries until 1959, at which point Formula Three was adapted into Formula Junior. In this period, there were often two or three series running concurrently and a single national series had yet to be firmly established. The FIA reintroduced Formula Three in 1964, and there were two F3 championships held in the UK that year, won by Jackie Stewart and Rodney Banting. This was not the last occasion of two or more F3 championships running concurrently in the post-1964 era: from 1970 to 1973, there were three regional series (the Lombard North, John Player, and Forward Trust championships) and there were normally two series between then and 1978. In 1984, the series adopted a B class for competitors with older chassis, which is now known as the National class.

And they've cut Monza, which was the always the best European round, and often the round of the year! Don't think Hockenheim is a very good replacement

No Croft either

I can't understand why British F3 should go abroad

Hockenheim? Bucharest? Is that the best they could do?

Bucharest is the city street race, so at least that's a bit different to the other races.

No idea why they aren't going to Croft, there was the big crash there last year which broke a marshal's leg, but safety's never been mentioned as a concern before.

Hockenheim's just dangerous in F3 cars.

Add in national-level drivers and someone's going to need reshelling by the end of that weekend.

Lucas di Grassi, Jon Lancaster and James Jakes agree with you.

aswell as Farbio Carbone, Stephane Richelmi and the drivers who were involved in a Kristensen 07 like Crash back in 2003.

The only non British track they should be allowed to go to is Spa. That's been a long tradition.

I've said it countless times that they have to remember that this is British F3 not Euro F3.

Perhaps they should merge the British championship and the Euroseries but keeping a British F3 championship as a national series like the German/ATS F3 Cup

Take the best teams from both - Carlin, Mucke, Signature, ART, Double R, Hitech, T-Sport etc - and then take the Euroseries and make it more pan-European, because the DTM schedule is largely German-centric. A calendar which includes 2 German rounds, 2 British rounds, Spa, Bucharest, a round or 2 in France (Pau being one), a round or 2 in Spain (Valencia streest?), Zandvoort, Monaco, a Portuguese round (Algarve presumably) and a round or 2 in Italy, plus the Masters - long calendar but higher standard. Then it would also keep British F3 as British, although it would effectively end up a stepping stone further down - the drivers that would otherwise probably compete in the National Class would find themselves in better machinery

there is enough interest to fill both Euroseries and British F3, so I don't see the point in merging them, it will mean there would be less places for young talent to race in

Yeah but the races at Monza have been awesome enough to warrant it's inclusion IMO
Techincally I'd agree with you 100% and be against it, but the racing there has been 200% awesome which outweighs that...

Bloody Ratel and his GT package....the F3 boys should've really gone for the free BTCC spot...not this quasi international calender
No Thruxton is unforgiveable (and added to dropping monza=no true high speed test this year :( ) and I still miss the fact they can't go to Castle Coombe any more, even though that has been a couple of years since they were forced out by NIMBYS :(

Monza seems to be losing all its top series right now for some reason - WTCC and FIA GT/F3. Perhaps there have been changes to the noise restrictions

I agree 100% that British F3 should stay home. Please don't destroy the most competitive series for young drivers (apart from GP2) anywhere in the world.I've watched Brit F3 for years and the racing is always exciting-far better than Euro F3.What can the series gain by racing in Bucharest? If they wanted a street race they could simply make something like Birmingham street circuit in the past and everything would be just fine.

The Birmingham street race required an act of British Parliament, and it is the only city in the UK where street racing is allowed to be held. If they wanted to do another one somewhere else Parliament would need to pass a new bill specifically for it.
