Was kind of half watching the re-run of this race on Eurosport just now. Who on earth was that who tried an overtake under yellow flags, slid off the track and almost took out about seven marshall who were tending to a car beached in the gravel? An absolutely shocking piece of driving and one that should be rewarded with a lengthy ban.

He got a Black Flag for that which was obviously totally deserved.

the car in front of him braked ridiculous early, and I thought overtaking under yellow only gave a drive-through? shure he did bring some lives in danger, but you don't go offtrack because it's fun, it where the conditions

Pastor Maldonado got banned for the rest of the season in May 2005 for driving at full speed through a yellow flag zone at Monaco. Several other drivers received similar punishments for similar offences.

If d'Ambrosio did not reduce his speed under what must've been double waved yellows with marshalls right next to the track, then he deserves a ban.

Don't forget that Maldonado did put a marshal in hospital when he did that.

The other drivers I think got two race bans.

Pastor did, and the ban was longer, but the drivers who commited similar offences to d'Ambrosio today did, as you said, get two-race bans, and Jerome has even less of an excuse than they did, being at a higher level of racing.

The fact that Jerome locked up and went into the gravel proves that he wasn't paying enough attention to the road ahead of him. Like I said earlier, track workers right at the side of the track means that there was at least one waved yellow, and one waved yellow means that you slow down significantly. Two means that you slow almost to a crawling pace and should be prepared to stop immediately if necessary.

Jerome's move was retarded, what was he thinking.

There's no way he's allowed to escape from that.

Let's hope he can start the race this time.

edit: and now he gets a 10 place grid penalty
Quote:
D'Ambrosio has to serve a 10-place grid penalty from his black flag in the last race in Malaysia.

Why is that? He got a penalty in that race, so no need for further punishment.

so he got 2 poles in a row, and lost 2 in a row without it being his fault :(

What he did in Sepang race and caused the penalty was his fault

but why punish a driver multiple times for the same error?
that doesn't happen very often

Because it's probably one of the most serious offences out there.
