Since we'll never get TV coverage of this in the US I won't have to worry about watching it.

I probably wouldn't anyway. Not that it's a series of women, but it'll probably be a series full of drivel. Personally, I love seeing the women drivers take it to the men, which is why the IMSA GTD class has been great the past few seasons. It's nice to finally see women racers who have talent be able to show it off against their male counterparts in competitive equipment.

This, tbh. The fact that women are proving themselves capable of being just as good as men shows that the system is what needs to change - and it is slowly doing so! This series is a step back and exists only to make people who could do more to help women in motorsport in other ways feel better about themselves.

I wonder how many more women would be helped in their careers if the budget used for this series was instead used to fund them in proper series.

it could be more cheap and feasible to promote an open test with female drivers in which the ones with the best outcome could be eligible for a racing purse to race in F2 or other feeder series

Genuine question, I wonder if this young lady will be eligible for W Series?

If you don't know why this is relevant (and it's a genuine serious question, not a wind up), watch this:

I don't see why not. For all intents and purposes, she is a woman.

I agree but not according to the law she isn't (yet), and then if they award her a drive it technically defeats the object of segregating women into their own series so they don't have to compete against men.

Bet they never considered that when they dreamed this shitshow up.

It's an interesting point, especially in countries that only recognise male and female at birth*. The Caster Semenya fiasco was similar, but from the other side I guess. But yeah, it's shitshowtastic because it only underlines how pointless this series is.

* I think Germany and a couple of others allow 'intersex' or similar at birth now. I've been reading recently on the state of genetics these days, and it seems that XX and XY for male and female doesn't work any more now that we know how many variations between the two are already possible. The more they try to fit the variations into 'male' and 'female', the more apparent it becomes that they shouldn't even bother trying )

There is now a list of drivers.

https://www.autosport.com/other/news/14 ... 55-drivers

Most of the list is as you would expect (Chadwick, Visser, a lot of drivers that reached their natural ceiling a few years back, as well as a few younger drivers who haven't gotten that far up the ladder), but there are a couple of surprises, Decker in particular.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Of course Jorda is there. The most pathetic excuse for a racing driver ever seen.

Not that she'll get picked.

Decker is definitely a surprise. Always wondered what happened to Sarah Moore.

Jorda will be in as she is the poster girl for the series.

The fact that there's no one there who has had success or even much experience at a serious level makes it very difficult to sell this series and its drivers, in terms of what it can offer for future career progression

Jorda will get an invitation spot or whatever because of her FIA position.

Quite like the lineup. Don't know most of the girls but I like the variety of categories they're from, from seasoned single-seater drivers to young ARCA racers.

Great series.

- Use car that no-one else uses.
- Same spec but better cars with better crews and better funding races the same weekends, mostly driven by male.
- Make a list of 55 female drivers eligible.
- Eliminate 38 of them as inapplicable.
- Give one seat to Carmen Jorda.
- Put Carmen Jorda on the posters, call her F1 tester.
- Jorda at back of the grid.
- Jorda crashes a lot.
- Man runs the show.

A League of Their Own, in cars.

Disappointed to not see the Cope twins on that list.

I think it'll do the opposite, give most people the impression the talented and rubbish alike belong in the same gimmicky box.

Well, this could be the motor racing version of XFL. The quality of racing could become the biggest problem regardless of all the intentions.

I'm not arguing with anyone's points, it's still a bit of a shambles, but its at least a start.

It will bring the wrong kind of attention. Drivers who can handle themself among the boys, will not join and get a seat in a regular series. Even if they cant make it to F1 they'll end up in a respectable series.

At the same time, drivers like Carmen Jorda WILL get a seat and will "proof" that women have no place in racing with the boys.

The money spent on this joke was better spent on campaigns to get rid of the stigma on women drivers and help drivers getting a better seat in the feeder series.

The problem is, there is no stigma against women in racing, I raced against several women, and there was never any issues, never any hatred etc. This "stigma" is a problem that has been invented by people with a vested interest in this series and Femanist nazis that would still feel persecuted if they were running the world, in order to justify its existence.

Women don't get drives in Formula One because 95% of them don't have the physical ability to drive the cars, and as my wife put it, bits get in the way of making it comfortable, I wouldn't get a drive in Formula One for the same reason (not the tit bit, just not being physically capable of driving the car) I don't feel persecuted or stigmatised, I just accepted that I wasn't good enough and found another career.

If anybody thinks that a Formula One team won't put a women in a car because they are simply a "women" they don't know how F1 works, I guarantee that if the right person came along, Formula One teams would be falling over themselves to get her signed up as in this day and age, you couldn't buy the good publicity that would bring. There are twenty seats available, not 1500, it's extremely difficult for even a man to progress to F1 and I don't even think any women qualify for a Superlicence at the moment anyway?

Hopefully this series will last about as long as A1GP did. This is a campaign for inclusion by starting with segregation, it will only make progressing through the ranks more difficult for women than it already is, Motorsport is one of the very few sports in the world where women compete against men on a level playing field, it should remain that way.
