How does the commentator foresee the future? She said "let's watch the start again" 1 second before the replay graphics were shown. Is the coverage delayed nowadays for tv viewers?

Really? I haven't noticed that before. Usually they react the same time as we, meaning that they watch the same feed we watch.

Although I think they need to synchronize their audio. I remember Mika Salo complaining that he heard the audio before the picture, so maybe they actually have a monitor showing unprocessed signal that's a couple seconds ahead of TV signal that goes throught the satellites. But that would be annoying if there's an accident and the commentator would see it, but couldn't spoil it for a few second and then only pretend to be shocked. I dunno

This video is pretty good to show how the directing works.

Do you know if commentators have access to that? I doubt they could listen to it, because constant noises would interfere their job.
I still think Sky's picture is just slightly delayed compared to the one in commentary booth, since they are on the spot. on MTV3 they do their commentary from Helsinki, so probably the delay is identical with TV viewers.

This Rosanna commentator is insufferably bad. Has the same catch phrases and interrupts the other commentator unnecessarily. Opening lap she was commentating with no energy.
Yeah I don't really get what she's doing - if she's meant to be the expert one then she shouldn't be doing the action but analysing it afterwards. Seems like they need to establish their roles better.

Was not a good race, does not bode well for f1 this afternoon

Not all of it of course, they're fed when the more important bits are coming. Replays, intros and outros, interviews, maybe a different graphic than normal, etc. They don't hear any of the camera handling unless it's a shot of them.

TV direction has not improved in years, if anything it's got worse. There's more cameras and they are in HD but they miss things often.

Bring back the BernieTV direction, that is how it's done.

Just half a season of the new race formats and FIA is already looking for changes. How shocking. The drive to mix up the grids apparently made things so complicated they received complaints? Funny how it's the simple things that always work the best. When they have to admit in public the format is complicated you just know how bad it really is

Just run the feature race first again on Saturday, would make it less complicated. Then reverse the whole grid for both sprint races or something

My proposal would be something like two qualifying sessions of 20 minutes, first decides grid for R1 and second for R2.

Those are feature races, drivers are ranked based on those two races. Driver with 10th in points for the weekend would start the R3 from pole with the driver with most points from R10.

Feature race points for R1 and R2, sprint race points for R3.
