They absolutely nailed the changes to this track. It's quickly becoming one of the highlights of the season

We don't know how GP2 and GP3 would have been here before the changes. F1 hasn't been that good.

All it took was taking out one chicane tbh

Looking at you now, Imola....

I literally came to post a similar praise about the track changes

Again, we don't have data to make that argument, because F2/GP2 and F3/GP3 didn't race here before the changes took place. And with only 2 races it's too early to say anything conclusive about F1.

But certainly for F3 this suits better than, let's say, Barcelona.

F1 will put on another boring race and it'll have nothing to do with the track

Not sure why you're so attached to one bad chicane where nothing of value happened bar Barrichello nerfing Frenzten into a spin in 2001.... :?

I didn't say that, nor I said the previous layout was better. It's only that we can't logically make a comparison of the changes based on F3 and F2 races, as we lack comparable data. Just nitpicking about the semantics, nothing else :p

From memory there's been some pretty ballsy passes into turns 9/10 in the F1 races post chicane being removed that I doubt would've happened in the other layout.

Yeah I get you, but tbh any time a track removes a chicane and adds in a high speed section instead, it has to be better for me

I'm here to see these cars go as fast as possible, and they usually put on better racing in high speed tracks than lower ones too, so for me it's a change with no drawbacks

Yeah but we can't have high speed sections, because you know, the crowd doesn't get to see the cars as much if they're going fast. What people want to see at a race track is cars going 50mph. It's intense stuff.

Melbourne isn't often in discussion when we talk about fast circuits but it's pretty fast. Here is last year's F1 calendar ranked by their fastest race laps all-time.

Monza
Jeddah
Silverstone
Spa
Red Bull Ring
Melbourne
Lusail
Las Vegas
Suzuka
Abu Dhabi
Interlagos
Barcelona
Miami
Zandvoort
Montreal
Sakhir
Baku
Austin
Hungaroring
Mexico City
Singapore
Monaco

Wrong thread?
EDIT: Oh, I suppose it's related to the Albert Park layout discussion. I thought you mistook F1 thread with F3 thread.

GB3 starts this weekend at Oulton Park. 22 cars.
In practice Louis Sharp, Flynn Jackes and James Hedley have shown good pace. https://www.gb-3.net/results

Three overseas rounds this year. OK, two of them are at Spa & Zandvoort where it's not uncommon for British series to race, but the other is at Hungaroring. Nothing has been learnt from the demise of British F3, clearly.

I see British F4 as the rung on the FIA ladder and these GB3 and GB4 are palmer's traditional attempts to confuse the racing dads with an offshoot series doing largely the same thing for more money

They'll probably be running around with 12-15 cars where British F4 will have 20+ and be putting on much better racing in front of bigger crowds and better TV coverage (and...erm, tiktok, apparently? :p )

I know where I'd rather be....
