How many points Lawson needs in SF for F1 super license? Or is it only a holdover campaign waiting for Tsunoda to bail out from AT? Ayumu Iwasa might be also in the mix if he wins F2 title?

Lawson got 40 points from F2 last season and that alone is enough. So the reason can't be the points.

Tsuboi leads the Autopolis race from the start but losing a lot of time on old tires while Lawson is gaining after an early pitstop.

Tsuboi pits on lap 25/41 and sure enough Lawson has jumped him. Miyata still to stop from the inherited lead.

Lawson & Tsuboi charge full steam on S/F line and they pass Miyata after the pitstop. That looked weird.

Miyata passed Tsuboi for 2nd but run out of time to catch Lawson in the end.

Ritomo Miyata demolished the field at Sugo winning by over 22 seconds. Nojiri and Makino on the podium.

Lawson & Tsuboi botched the pitstop strategy going long and got swallowed by those who pitted in the first half of the race. Lawson still recovered to 5th but he was ahead of Nojiri after the first lap so should have been on the podium with a different strategy. Miyata leads the standings by 12 points now.

Giuliano Alesi has been fired by Team TOM's with Ukyo Sasahara taking his place. At Sugo Alesi spun on the opening lap and collected Yuhi Sekiguchi in his latest driving misadventure. With Miyata going for the title, the TOM's team really needs a second car to try and take some points away from the Motul duo. Moreover it was Sasahara who was told to move over for Lawson ahead of 2023 so a little personal motivation here.

Liam Lawson won at Fuji and has closed within one point of Ritomo Miyata in the championship. Lawson jumped Makino for virtual lead thanks to pitting one lap earlier and passing him on warmer tires on Makino's outlap. Miyata salvaged 3rd place while Ryo Hirakawa came from 20th on the grid to finish 4th.

Given all the talk about him recently with Riccardo going to Alpha Tauri, getting a win is def what he needed to do

Huge shunt on lap 1 in Motegi. Lawson lost it and Makino did a 360 mid-air! Red flag.

Well, Nojiri squeezed Lawson wide and might get a penalty for that as Lawson had no grip on the kerbs and spun into the pack.

Yuhi Sekiguchi also ended upside down in the melee.
