Life is so cruel. This was the last race running with a car without rear wheel fenders. Typical.

And to think about who helped to develop and tested that car... :( . So tragically ironic.

What do you guys expect if they are racing at 400 kmph on ovals? It was just a matter of time. Wheldon, as other europeans in US are just guys who failed in europe so went to race in US. Stop crying like babies and man up!

I hope the admins find your real account and ban it

I don't even know what to do right now, and I even feel bad about that in a way. Wheldon was a person I never once met or knew in any meaningful way other than one of the countless people I've watched on television, participating in my favorite sport. I don't mean to sound insensitive, because I am not. It's awful to see this happen, even if it's always a possibility. And when it does it's shocking and disturbing. Yet I still feel kind of guilty about being so sad about it that I don't feel like eating dinner, or reading a book, or any other normal Sunday evening activities.

Come on guys.

We're all upset.

If it's too much, walk away.

I was honestly in tears during the 5 lap salute. That was one of the most emotional things I have ever seen on live television. Farewell Dan, you will be missed.

I usually don't follow IndyCar so please correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've gathered, Wheldon only started in this race because of that 5 million $ prize? Is that correct?

You've clearly picked the right moment to make your first post, you dickhead.

Don't worry, just permabanned him.

That 5 lap salute is the saddest thing I've ever seen in motorsport, since the wave-goodbye of Alan Kulwicki's truck in Dover 1993

Pretty much. It was a bit more complicated because the original plan they had failed, but that is the jist of it yes.

I had to look away from the tv. I just couldn't...
You know guys, I'm proud to be here with you, and I'm glad that you are here. In these moments, just knowing that there are other people to share your feelings with, it means the world to me. Well I don't know if I expressed myself correctly, at this point I can't do that even in italian. Just want to say thanks for being here.

Same here. I can't recall having cried at the death of a driver. It affects me, and I certainly get all the feelings of having to cry, which I do not even bother to fight. But the tears never come.

I find it real shame that it always seems to happen at the last even of the season. I mean, recently we had (as I can remember) : Greg Moore, Dale Earnhardt, Michael Park, now Dan Wheldon. Why ? I mean I don't think they are losing their concentration because its the last race, so what ! Destiny you can say yes, but damn shit what a brutal way to call it back ! :(
