I think the Boy Scouts are 100 years old this year. The Union Pacific Railroad also has a special paint scheme for the 100th Anniversary out:

You can see both of today's incidents @ 2:40, not the greatest angle on the Wheldon crash.

Team3G has officially withdrawn its entries for Indy. :(

They are running today after all, tho it looks like it could rain at any moment. Looked like that all day mind. Currently the track is yellow for track inspection.

That did look rather nasty, Went in really hard backwards in turn 1. He got put on a backboard & taken away in an ambulance, Hope thats just a precaution.

He spun exiting the pits & hit the left side against the inside wall. He was able to drive the car back to the pit, Looked like he just did some suspension damage at both ends.

Notice how the car didn't rotate much and went almost directly backwards into the wall, rather than 3/4 impact. I fear if that was a Panoz chassis then the outcome would have been much much worse.

Yes we already know you don't like Panoz chassis. It's like when a crash happens in Indycars it always " if it was Panoz bla, bla, bla".

...hissy fit much? It was a comment on how the safety in IRL has progressed. The impact was pretty brutal. Whilst not a spectacular accident (besides the flame), the impact was possibly the worst way you can hit other than direct frontal. Just 5 years ago, that kind of accident would have produced spinal injuries in both chassis. It shows how the development of the Dallara has improved massively. The Panoz hasn't been developed in quite some time now, so would still suffer from the older issues.

My point is, the days of constant spinal injuries in IndyCar (under IRL sanctioning) seem to be gone. That was one hell of an accident and he has been discharged from hospital, seemingly fine. IRL have done a great job getting things sorted.
