fia.com is down but apparently this reads there:

As a result of the incident, the FIA regrets to inform that the driver of car #19, Antoine Hubert (FRA), succumbed to his injuries, and passed away at 18:35.

I can't imagine how Alesi must feel right now. He obviously did nothing wrong but won't stop anyone from feeling a certain level of sadness about their involvement.

Statement: Incident during FIA Formula 2 Feature Race, Spa Francorchamps

The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) regrets to advise that a serious incident involving cars #12, #19 and #20 occurred at 17:07 on 31/08/19 as a part of the FIA Formula 2 Feature Race at Spa-Francorchamps, round 17 of the season.

The scene was immediately attended by emergency and medical crews, and all drivers were taken to the medical centre.

As a result of the incident, the FIA regrets to inform that the driver of car #19, Anthoine Hubert (FRA), succumbed to his injuries, and passed away at 18:35.

Very sad. I was hoping so much that he made it.

Rest in peace Anthoine.

I think it’s fair that we do not apportion blame, that we don’t start saying what if, who did what. It’s just happened and it’s raw. Hubert was a great driver and we are all deeply saddened by this tragic accident. We take time and reflect on things. There are no words to describe on how people are feeling, especially his family and friends. RIP Antoine Hubert.

Motorsports.

We love it for the thrills, we love it when it looks dangerous, we love it when the driver walks away. When it's close to limit, it's rewarding and addrenaline flows.

But these moments...it always hurts like when we lose someone close to us, someone we love. Because we share the same passion.

Farewell, Antoine Hubert.

There are number of people who complain about certain drivers.

Let's face it, Alesi is in F2 only because of his name. He doesn't have the talent to compete at this level IMO. I won't be surprised if Trident pulls the plug on him after this season but he's linked to them for years so Idk anymore.

Totally unneccessary & avoidable death :x

I'm sorry, but what did Alesi do? Lost control or had technical problem? I only see a chain reaction with the most shocking consequences.

He was the first car to spin. It seems like Hubert must have made slight contact with Alesi after that, and spun into the tires himself before Correa arrived.
