If you are making a list of all the European openwheel racing series, you could add there Finnish Formula Renault 2000, Finnish Formula Ford.

I'm not sure if these are scheduled anymore anywhere in Europe, but I'll list them anyway. Formula Vee and Formula Vauxhall.

Imo if its called Formula 2 it should be similar to formula 1 and it should behave like a small f1 car. With turbos they dont do that.

They're ready for 2013.

Palmer has stated in this week's Autosport that the engine will deliver 'between 400 and 500bhp', with the total budget designed to be below 250,000 euros a season per driver.

GP3 will be a good step to GP2.

Looks decent as it still continues with the simplicity just like the old F2 without any rubbish stuck on the car.

Even though I'm a big hater of this series (leave GP2 alone!!!!1111), I've got to admit a couple of things: the idea of having a low-cost top-end formula car is great for the talented but broke drivers, it's nice to see the name of F2 back, and that looks like a proper racing car.

On the other hand, this will just dilute the driving talent base into yet another fucking feeder series (like there weren't enough of them), it might harm GP2 which has very good racing, the idea seems ridiculously difficult to work in practice (how come so little money can make for a quick enough car?), and, specially, this rule they have announced must be the most retarded rule I've ever heard of in a motorsport championship:

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/71090

"Pitstops are clearly a crucial part of Formula One, and we have thought carefully about how we can ensure that Formula Two provides valuable experience for the drivers," said the MSV boss. "And that is critical, to get experience of the in-lap and the out-lap, as well as accuracy of positioning.

"No tyre changes are permitted, because in Formula Two it would be wrong for the driver's result to be influenced by the competence of his pit crew. So cars will be required to be stationary for a minimum of 10 seconds.

"While stopping, the driver must push a button to start the timer. He needs to have his wits about him enough to be able to do that. The green light will illuminate after 10 seconds, and only after that may a driver leave the stop."

Mandatory stop-and-go penalties for everyone! :?

a) They send drivers to the pitlane to "train" inlaps and outlaps. Good. What about training mechanics how to make tyre stops? The mechanics don't deserve to be trained? Everyone talks about the "poor" drivers, how about those who get their hands dirty with oil?

b) Drivers in F1 go out of the pits on brand new, cold tyres. In these series, which are meant to train drivers, they'll be trained how to do outlaps in different conditions than the ones they're supposed to be trained for.

c) It's just going to look ridiculously fucking stupid on TV.

I still think the future of this series will depend on how it's seen by the F1 teams as a series that can provide them with good talent. And the fact that GP2 races in the F1 weekends is still a plus.

They explained that in the article, they didn't want to skew the results because of it.

They're still going to be going out on cold tires a lot. Like in practice, qualifying, the beginning of the race..

so, it's not ok for a driver's result to be affected by a mistake by his pit crew, but it is ok for his result to be affected if he screws up his no-tires, no-fuel, no-adjustments mock pit stop?
on the other hand, it will be a good way to train drivers to work with Ferrari's pit stop light system (or, more accurately, a bizzaro version of Ferrari's system that actually works the way it's intended to).

One would be a race affected by something out of their control, the other they have full control of. COMPLETELY THE SAME THING.

yeah, but one is something that happens in real racing and is something real race car drivers will have to get used to (mistake/mechanical failure during pit stop service) and one is completely ridiculous (mistake/mechanical failure during pointless, arbitrary pit stop).
