Let's think about this for a second, if you don't mind.

Beezle thinking? That's dangerous.

The only way that could ever work would be to stage a race before the grand opening of one very...very wide theme park.

During the winter, Disney hosts a series of amateur running events around the parks, and indeed that's what they do. The marathon they host starts at 5:30 AM EST, for instance.

So I suppose you could run a 2 hour Indy event at WDW Speedway at 5:00 AM EST. It would be great for the European audience. (Everyone else will be too sleepy to notice.)

I never was in Disney World since I'm from Europe, but I know Theme Parks here, that have pritty wide main roads through the park (Europa Park for example). If you can host a race in Macau, you can easily host it in a big theme park of your choice.
+ you have a fiy promoter
+ you have the parking lots
+ you can combine the entrance with free park tickets in the main season when the park opens regularly

I will tell you now that no theme park in America would be willing to close their parks down for an auto race. There's many reasons why, but I won't get into details about it.

Disney World in Orlando has plenty of possible courses. Looping *in* a theme park is out of the question though. I'm sure some of the roads are wide enough to support cars, but the surface within the park tends to be (relatively) soft foot-friendly concrete squares. Also, imagine what tourists will think of a weekend (minimum) where the theme park's sights are obscured by concrete barriers.

The WDW oval failed because it was constructed a bit on the cheap... the grandstands were temporary and erected on the Magic Kingdom parking lot, which the facility was constructed next to. This meant no separate parking for the racing, causing massive traffic headaches on race day for park tourists. Disney has enough land in Florida to build a full-fledged road course facility if they wanted too, but I doubt they are interested.

Its the same. Exception for the parks that are located in warmer climate. Which tend to stay open year around. Disney World, located in Florida, stays open year around.

According to SPEED.com, Oriol Servia is "all but signed" for the full 2012 season with Dreyer & Reinbold.

Georgio Pantano says he will either be at DRR (If he can find $1m in sponsors) or be Ganassi's 3rd driver.

http://italiaracing.net/notizia.asp?id=34300&cat=3
Quote:
Giorgio Pantano is on hold. The pilot Padua, after three races with Dreyer & Reinbold IndyCar 2011, hopes to be at the start of the 2012 season with the team that allowed him to do well in the disputed road stages. For Autosprint , Pantano said: "By the end of January will I know if I'll be at the start of the season. Dreyer & Reinbold team is working to offer the steering wheel without the support of sponsors, but must fill the gap of the last million dollars of budget season . If I can not be full-time on the track, Ganassi asked me to tie his team in the role of third driver. "

There are some magazine scans on Atlas (in the Lotus F1 thread) from an article on Bahar which shows printouts of a mock-up 'black Lotus' livery for DRR as well as a 'green Lotus' for Simona.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Simona in a Green Lotus livery would do untold things to my hormones. I'm not sure I can handle that.

Well, I'll be honest, it's not pure Lotus green with a yellow stripe like the KV cars were, it's kind of like last year's car with some added yellow, as the sponsor is staying.

Although the green does appear to be a Lotus green, which is why I highlighted it.

Lotus just stated they made a contract with a new team that did not take part in Indycars in the past.
Any Ideas?
