I wouldn't want to imaging a car taking off at that point...

Fucking crazy. Why the fuck don't they just go back to a 1 hour qualifying session with a 12 lap allocation. It's almost like the FIA wants to see someone killed in a stupid and pointless way.

Yes because that would never have the chance of happening in that old style quali.

I agree, especially here where the schedule is very relaxed thanks to Thursday practice. Yet they wanna make all sessions as "sprint" as possible.

True obviously. But the more time there is, the less important a single lap is for the drivers, so they don't feel so pressured to lift and abandon their laps. Maybe.

It's about minimizing risk. The current format makes that kind of accident more likely. Nice try though.

That was very scary between Miyata and Hadjar:

Still thinking about it tbh. Can't quite believe how close they came to a catastrophic accident.

Yeah. There was a rule(gentlemans agreement?) at one point not to enter the tunnel if you were likely to crawl to a halt in it which Miyata very nearly did. The fact that he was running tight up against the barrier around a blind bend just makes it all the more worse.

As for Hadjar, it was quali so he would have expected the white flags/lights to be for someone off the racing line going slow to get ready for a push lap.
