I don't know what to watch. Too many Motorsports at the moment:

Formula 2
World Series by Renault Formula 3.5
STCC & DTC
DTM
MotoGP
SBK
BTCC
Superleague Formula

Seriously... Why they don't race during the F1 weekend ?

What do the non-Belgians think of Bailly? Promising?

Meh

I think Vasiliauskas has a chance of progressing further up the ranks but the rest of the F2 field is rather average this year, even worse than last year's

It's another waste of time series tbh. I like the concept but it's a saturated market and F2 seems to be at the bottom end of the market and seems to attract all the dregs (Kralev, Sureshwaren, Teixeira, Paul Rees etc), what with it being a lower price and a relatively young series. That someone like Jolyon Palmer can be one of the 2 leading contenders shows how poor it has been this year

Bailly has very good potential, but will of course never get to F1 like no Belgian driver will. Even if he had a huge amount of talent, he still isn't marketable enough being Belgian, and none of our companies are interested in F1 or racing, so no money either. Only one which might, somehow, get close to it would be Laurens Vanthoor...biggest Belgian talent at the moment and surrounded by very very very very rich people (including his father)

I wouldn't be so sure - you not heard the latest on d'Ambrosio and Virgin?

It's all just talk.

Indeed, we've had those rumours TOOOOONS of times before. With the most severe ones back in 2004 with Bas Leinders and Minardi, he got the 3rd driver role and there as always this talk about him doing Spa etc etc. Never worked out and he was gone after 1 season.

You guys have one of the greatest race tracks on the world, you have another of the greatest (if not 'the greatest' just over the boarder), you have most major series visit your tracks for a round, you don't have to travel 20,000km+ to get to the major series, you use the Euro which makes your money worth something, many many many country's would kill to be in the position Belgium is in, fact is... it's HARD to get into Formula One, you think Belgium isn't marketable, try coming from New Zealand

The majority of Belgium would rather get rid of Spa rather than invest more in it, though. All the points you made were very very valid, but it just doesn't work out over here. All of the money goes to football (in which we suck), tennis and cycling/cyclocross. Nobody cares about racing. I'm 100% sure it's even HARDER to get somewhere coming from New Zealand, Chris VD Drift for one has had the luck for being partly Dutch.

It's not, though, because Boullier has at least admitted talks are going on and they are keen for it to happen. It's not just any old rumour that's been picked up. It's just a case of if they can find the money - Autosport magazine today is effectively saying that Gravity are going to pay. So I reckon there's a reasonable chance of it happening

yea, I know what you mean, over here it's all about Rugby, take this quote from Mitch Evans for example

Quote:
After spending adrenalin-charged weekends in Australia, racing at speeds of 260km/h, it's sometimes hard returning to the diet of maths, physics, chemistry and geography.

"Rugby players here are treated like gods," he says. "Whereas some of my teachers think my racing is just a hobby."

Evans recounts a tale of one teacher who asked him: "Is this driving stuff going to take you anywhere in life? Is this serious?"

(btw I that article is worth the read, Mitch Evans is uber good)

Wall, as long Spa makes a big loss every year, it's kinda normal that people wonder why so much tax money is 'donated' for such an event whereas we as a country have a huge deficit on the other part. It's amazing that we don't manage to make a profit out of it. But there you should ask Bernie i think...

d'Ambrosio and Virgin... I see it happen, but I wonder if that is really a good move. the car so foar has proved to be unreliable, slow etc but on the other hand it might be his one and only chance.
