A little comeback to that Markelov/Rowland incident. I saw it all from T1 grandstand, my spot was on the apex of the corner and I was following the battle of the two as far as it was possible to see. And I have to tell you that TV really removes a lot of the experience of seeing something like that happening just in front of you. I could clearly hear how the car skipped on the grass, tires squeeling and the impact to the barrier. That thud echoed around the area and made the grandstand vibrate a bit. No wonder Markelov was winded after the accident, even the grass hopping would be enough to knock the air out of the lungs and make the discs in the spine rattle, let alone the impact, which was still something around 120-150 km/h by the look of it.

The runoff area seemed to be too short really. I wouldn't like to hit those tire barriers even as low speed as 50 km/h in a normal, safe, modern road car, not even with the latest Volvo. But if that would happen, I'm quite sure I'd be very sore the next day and not ready to race again. That tells a lot about what kind of people racing drivers are.

Everything looks easy and clean when drivers brake on the braking zone, but when the car goes over the grass, it seems like the car will never stop...well, until it hits the barrier of course. I can only imagine how fast and loud Barrichello's crash in 2003 and Hulkenberg's on 2015 must have been.

Pretty un-chaotic for a wet qualy.

Pretty much slicks now, but more rain on the way so doubt anyone will risk them.
