I think that should be the way to go, if they want to do something. It's not like it happens at every race.

Not a fan at all of the "overtime" GWC thing. Let Villeneuve be the only one who won the Indy 500 while completing 505 miles.

I guess the general line for me is it's fine to set rules for the series to improve the show (i.e. in between seasons) but when you start making race control decisions mid-race such as how many more laps to run for the sake of entertainment, it gets ridiculous. Sadly most series don't seem to respect this line anymore.

I don't get this comment... explain. I know he won the 500, but how did he do 505?

he was 2 laps down at one point because of a penalty

He had the laps taken away too, not just lost 2 laps. So he had to do 505 miles to win.

Yeah, he was unaware that he was the leader after a caution that happened between a series of pitstops. He went by the pace car twice, while the pace car was trying to catch him.

So, he had those laps taken away. He was scored for 200 laps, but he actually did 202 laps from the green to the checkers.

Oh, I see. I never knew that. I know that's the race where Scott Goodyear screwed up, but that's all I really remembered.

Is that the way to achieve the green finish we've been talking about, randomly throw the green and white when no-one is expecting it?

Imagine if there'd been a TBK back then....
So...many....LULZ....

Those cars needed exhaust systems, badly.

The early Tony George Indy 500's, a total shambles and an embarrassment to the previous 80 years of tradition.
