That's awesome! What do you do?

Anyone going to Silverstone this year has to pay for them :(

I'm working for a tv station who's a partner of the event at Spa.

Silverstone = paying? That sucks, Spa has always been free.

Oh that sounds cool!

Yeah, because from this year FR3.5 is the support to the Silverstone 6 hours, so it isn't a rip-off!

Kevin Magnussen took his first Formula Renault 3.5 pole position at Spa on Saturday morning.

The Carlin rookie was a factor in the fight for pole throughout the session, and he had to respond to two stunning laps from championship leader Sam Bird to regain the place he held for much of qualifying.

While Bird's initial lap was just enough to edge him into first place, the Briton appeared to be repeating his Monaco qualifying performance when his second lap took him 0.8 seconds clear of the field with six minutes to go.

But Magnussen, who quickly looked at home around the Belgian track during Friday's free practice sessions, was able to respond to the Briton's time three minutes later to grab pole by less than one tenth of a second.

Marco Sorenson was consistently on the fringes of the pole position battle and took third on the grid, while Jules Bianchi, who didn't set a laptime until 24 minutes in to the 30-minute session, managed to set the fourth quickest time with only his second hot lap.

Bianchi had briefly appeared on track earlier on, but the first half of qualifying was heavily disrupted. Richie Stanaway brought out the red flags six minutes in when he got on the dirt off line at Malmedy and crashed, while officials put out a full-course yellow flag for four minutes just before halfway when Anton Nebilitskiy stopped at Raidillion.

Behind Bianchi, Fortec team-mates Carlos Huertas and Robin Frijns make up the third row, ahead of former champion Mikhail Aleshin and Bird's ISR team-mate Jake Rosenzweig. Nico Muller and Arthur Pic complete the top 10.

Several drivers didn't get a chance to complete their final hot laps, as Yann Cunha brought out the red flags with 16 seconds left on the clock when he spun on the exit of Fagnes and could not get going.

Championship frontrunner Kevin Korjus was the slowest qualifier, after his Tech 1 car was the latest to be struck by the pneumatic pressure problem which has affected several cars so far this season.

The Estonian, who could not change gear once the problem struck, will start on the penultimate row of the grid, as Stanaway and Nebilitskiy had their best times taken away and did not have a second laptime to fall back on.

Can't believe, I woke up to watch it, but fall asleep again... nice to see that Magnussen had a pole position, shame that he didn't make it a victory, he's my favourite driver in WSBR

Typical Clio at Spa-Francorchamps... 2 big shunts at the exit of Eau Rouge and cars everywhere at les Combes.

Everyone seems to be okay. SC is out.

Here's the Clio carnage, still waiting on vids from the main race:

[youtubeidiot]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssq9R9nBa5g&feature=g-u-u[/youtubeidiot]

And according to the YT comments a woman was hit during some kind of demonstration at Eau Rouge between the races....
Apparently she's been to hospital and released though, wow...

Pretty impressive margin to pole!

Quote:
Kevin Magnussen made it two pole positions from two qualifying sessions at Spa this weekend by comfortably taking top spot in the rain on Sunday morning.

The Dane, who led for a long period of race one before eventually retiring after getting hit by Arthur Pic, bounced back in style to comfortably take pole for race two by six tenths of a second.

The pressure had been on Magnussen, as prior to his pole lap two minutes from the end of qualifying he was sitting down in 15th place.

But seconds after Robin Frijns had deposed Sam Bird for first position, Magnussen crossed the line behind the Dutchman to relegate him to second place.

Frijns was safe in second as Bird stopped at Blanchimont on his final lap, while a late effort from Jules Bianchi got the Ferrari junior driver onto the second row at the expense of Lewis Williamson.

Fifth place still marks Williamson's best qualifying of the season by some margin, as his previous best was 18th. The Red Bull-backed Scot has struggled so far this season as newcomer team Arden Caterham gets to grips with the series, but he was able to use the conditions to his advantage to haul himself into contention.

Nick Yelloly made it an all-British third row with sixth on the grid, while Nico Muller, Walter Grubmuller, Jake Rosenzweig and Daniil Move compled the top 10 ahead of race one winner Marco Sorensen.

Pos Driver Team Time Gap
