AJ has already been given a lifeline by MSR in Grand-Am

They've changed the Push to Pass a bit too:

Wat?

That's the strangest implication of a turbo boost I've ever heard of.
Will have to see it in operation before judging but....curious.

It's an interesting decision and I quite like the thinking behind it, as it potentially stops the defensive use of push to pass. Afterall, it is called push to pash, not push to defend. But I'll wait to see it in operation before judging... like you say.

The naming of it has always been a bit of a silly idea, imo, dating back to its first appearance in the Champcar days.

Calling it "push to pass" just makes it seem like the fans can expect an overtake every time it is pressed, which distorts the purpose of it somewhat.

If they'd called it "the boost button" or whatever it was called in the 90s (yeah yeah I know, different system, same end result tho )
then people would be less demanding of what they expect it to do.
It enhances the quality of racing, no question, but its not a guaranteed pass shot.

Should've cashed in on all those old videogames and called it the Afterburner....

I'd rather see the real-life equivalent of the paintball/ball launcher mode from NASCAR '98 (or Dirt 2 Daytona).

Sorry Paul, but I've just secured a copywrite on "YAYtree" "YAY tree" and variations of. You'll now have to pay me royalties for your avatar and each time you use this term.

I'll be a millionaire after the Snett BTCC round

Hopefully that'll get people to stop using the name then.

If he returns to Indycar the drugs thing might have been good after all. He is a reasonable driver at NASCAR but he was awesome in Champcar (or atleast when he had a good car under his butt).

AJ left Champcar for a $$$$ RedBull NASCAR cheque and I do think most of the people don't need him back. There are numbers of drivers without a good seat at the moment (leaves me nowhere why Ganassi hired Pantano to replace Kimball...) who are more loyal to Indycars then AJ has ever been... Just my 2 cents :). Hope he can clean up is act and continue racing somewhere.

Rahal and Ganassi parting ways after 2012

Unless Andretti Autosport signs him. I for one see Graham racing for his father in 2013.

AJ should be in Indycar. He's an open wheel driver IMO.

The thing is, I think we're all guillty of over-hyping his Champcar credentials as afterall, he only had one (partially) decent season in 2006 and that was all thanks to being fired by his own team. Once Forsythe picked him up he was incredible.

Motorsport has very little to do with loyalty. You can name big names and say they were loyal, but half of them drove for Champ Car when it was at the throat of IndyCar. So the only way you find the "loyalty" is if you consider Champ Car and IndyCar one series, which they weren't until 2007.

And even then, why should a drive be loyal? AJ was a Red Bull driver anyway, and they wanted him in NASCAR. Why shouldn't he be loyal to Red Bull? And maybe a driver just wants to do something else. Dario was a huge NASCAR fan and wanted to try it. It didn't work out, but why shouldn't he have a go? Does he need to stay loyal to IndyCar?
