Renna, Brack... don't forget Briscoe...
Perez big shunt, he don't drive after this impact his foots broken.
Junqueira in Indy with his big shunt, not good for his career. well, hope Mike can recover, he is young enough. hope he find his speed next year.

Indy is a bis experience. Paul Dana / Ed Carpenter, the cars in Indy / oval are extremly fast. fenches or standing cars on track ... oval racing is dangerous.

Didn't Brack hit a pole or something now?

Brack hit the reverse fence, where the poles were trackside and the fence tacked on the back of it, so when he hit the fence, it broke away from it's mountings on the post but the post stayed in position so he then hit the post, now Texas has traditional fence where the pole is spectator side, so that if a car or debris get's up into it the fence can give but not pull away from the pole mounting.

Still won't do much good if the car tears right through the fence like Conway did.

Simona top rookie

Looks like Simona got rookie of the year for that.

It's a voting - Romancini actually finished ahead of her (on the finish line not, this was similar position switch compared to one which put Andretti to 3rd)

Yeah, there was nothing to chose between them really, I expected they would give co-rookie honours, but Simona did qualify on Pole Day whereas Romancini only on Bump Day and she also run ahead of him for most of the race until fuel saving came into play. Also looks like Romancini run out of fuel under that last yellow and barely coasted towards the line.

I think the fans are pretty well protected. They seemed to be high enough to avoid any problems and the fences always do a good job of keeping cars out of the crowd. What scares me is how badly the catchfence can destroy the car. If Conway goes into the fence with the top of the car first then his head could experience a similar impact to the car. That didn't happen and we can be thankful.

Open wheel cars can always get airborne. We probably don't see it in Formula 1 because they rarely hit 220mph and they rarely go side by side! Would they fly as easily? I don't know. I don't remember the Indycars in the late 90's flying through the air but it could be the nature of the pack racing we now see. Cars are more likely to touch wheels if they're racing side by side every single lap. Hmm...

Anyway, I hope Conway recovers quickly. Underrated F3 champion who has looked very quick on some of the street/road courses.

Indy 500 scores it's lowest TV rating

Quote:
The race, which aired on ABC on Sunday, earned a 3.68 rating, according to New York-based Nielsen Media Research. Each rating point represents 1.1 million homes nationwide, meaning just over 4 million households across the U.S. tuned to this year’s race.

This year’s national rating was down from a 3.96 last year, or about 4.36 million TV households.

Time to scrap the Indy 500 if you follow ABC's recent course of action.

Thank God the Indy 500 is a weekend event, ABC doesn't give a damn about weekends.

No, they cancel comedies with ratings like that too.
Expectations are higher in prime time than on Sunday afternoons, anyway.

Lord no, it's bad enough having what a green flag is explained to you, I couldn't stomach them trying to explain what push to pass is in their "dumb it down so much even a dog can understand" style.
ABC = Always Bloody Complaining

FOX is too gimmick-happy to have a decent broadcast without having said gimmicks take over the telecast. And ABC is bad enough, made worse by the fact that it's now ESPN on ABC.

Put it on CBS.

Did you see what CBS did to the ALMS 6 Hour race at Laguna Seca?
Fox could be OK if they tossed the F1 crew at it.

And NBC?

I read there could be some races in NBC in the near future with the Versus team in a way similar to "ESPN on ABC".

Well, pending goverment approval, NBC could soon be under the same ownership umbrella as Versus (the wonderful Comcast Corporation), so that makes sense. Versus on NBC would probably be more watchable than a true NBC Sports production.

That'd be good. Versus coverage is great. Jenkins should get a bit more excited at moments, though.

Versus just had it's highest TV ratings with NHL Finals Game 3. It was watched by 5.1 milion viewers at the peak moment.

Looks like the channel is growing and people know where they can find it if there is something that they want to see.
