I watched the first 100 laps, some of which were really excellent... Fell asleep for the next 100 laps... Woke up and saw that Helio beat everyone out of the pits and that was the race... I missed nothing for those 100 laps I slept.

That says ALOT about how poor a race this was.

Fans, drivers, Media are talking about the same stuff - more innovation, more side by side racing and less of the crap we have this year.

IRL should get new car for next year. They are working over 2 years on it, so it's about time to get it done.

Could be that since the track hasn't been paved in some years, that it has less grip and it's harder to run flat out, that is probably the main factor.

I don't think they have the slightest problem running flat out in texas.

IRL should put Handford Device on the cars. And yes I don't give a #@%@ if it's artificial or whatever. CART races on superspeedways were fantastic when they used it.

Im not sure that would even work with the current Dallara/Honda package.

CART cars had something like 900+Bhp back when they ran the Hanford device, the IRL cars only have something like 650Bhp. They also ran far less downforce than the IRL cars do.

Good article about this here:
http://www.meccaofspeed.com/pages/paddo ... nford.html

Hanford device also had other problems, CART drivers/teams blamed it for several big accidents (Some blamed it for Greg Moore's fatal crash in 1999) & it was said that each hanford wing cost $50,000, which is obviously not ideal when cash isn't too readily avaliable for teams now. From memory CART ditched the Hanford device in 2001 for the reasosn I mention above.

It did produce some great racing though :)

Texas (and other 1.5 miles) has been like that for the last 2 or 3 years anyway, but it seems like this year's all of a sudden grabs a lot of attentions.
