That 1999 pass was intense. Even watching a replay of it all these years later, you still feel a little anxious whether it's going to work or be a gigantic crash.
Also I've not properly inspected the indy Lights car yet, does that have wheel guards too? :? They do not. They just have an extension at the bottom of the tub to prevent interlocking wheels from the side. http://cdn.images.autosport.com/editorial/1427660153.jpg https://d1b8ufspcmikd1.cloudfront.ne...
Here are my shots of Bo Lemastus crashing off turn 4 into the inside wall. He hit right where the jersey barriers end and the solid concrete pit wall begins, and actually knocked a chunk out of the pit wall! One of my favorite races, because it's so positively batshit insane, is the 1996 CART race at Road America. The start crash, Greg Moore's wild ride followed by Davy Jones flipping under caution, Christian Fittipaldi sitting on the fence, the Pac West guys crashing each other out in spectacular fashi...
At least when a movie's bad, there's entertainment to be had in making fun of it, and there's the possibility of the next movie you see being good. NASCAR being bad is just depressing and hopeless because the next race is going to be just as abysmal as the current one.
The nice thing with BWW is that it's a national chain, and the food is pretty consistent from night to night and location to location. They aren't the absolute best wings ever, but they're always really, really good.
NASCAR wants to put restrictor plates on the cars at Fontana and Michigan. Engine builder Doug Yates has said they have spend around $3 million bucks more then at this time last year just because of the package changes with the tapered spacer. http://www.motorsport.com/nascar-cup/news/for-nascar-s-...
Indycar just put the 2007 Champcar race on there youtube channel: Nnbxyqh5lUk Lap one, turn 5 = LOL Also, just another reminder of what a shame it is the merged IndyCar Series didn't opt for the DP01 chassis (better looking, faster, works well in dirty air) and the turbo V8 Ford Cosworth (sweet Jes...
The last lap of that race was the best last lap of that entire season. The last lap at Road America in '96 was a close second though. Seeing Al Jr. blow up in Canada Corner immediately after cutting away from a replay of a flipping car is pretty insane, and Danny Sullivan's "Oh no! Oh no!"...
I vaguely remember a Winston West race that may have been at Fontana in the late 90's where Brendan Gaughan crashed and his wings were turned extra crispy
The trouble is that you can't always go with the lowest cost option and expect good things for the overall series. That's what resulted in us having the same exact chassis from 2003 to 2011. That kind of stagnation doesn't generate excitement. It doesn't help retain existing viewers or bring in new ...
