So Ferrari PUs 1 and 2 on day one, with Vettel and Ericsson completing short runs on medium and soft tyres respectively. Rosberg's 157 laps is immensely impressive for the first day of testing. Honda does next to nothing and Yellow Belly Zebra-Renault team quietly finish mid-table.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

It's just a guess on my part, but I think Vettel never really wanted to change design every single week. It always seemed an elaborate PR-thingy demanded by the higher authorities at RBR.

I have exactly the same feeling, the "Red Bull pattern" on their development drivers and even in the current F1 drivers also gives your point more strenght. I'm glad Vettel has opted for a single design this season, and he got it so very right with this simple but clever design! Good job!

Ron has tweeted that the McLaren's livery *will* be changing, but he won't say when. My money is on January 2016.

Speaking about the matter on the opening day of pre-season testing at Jerez, Dennis explained that he was not willing to embrace a bold change of colours simply for the sake of it.

"We have had the same [discussions about livery] inside the team: all of these people were saying, why don't we make it orange - because that was the old colour of McLaren?" he said.

"Well, I say, 'you just said it - it was the old colour of McLaren. Why the hell do we want to go backwards?'

Sounds like you can forget red and white!

Like I said before, it'll just be black mirrors. Not expecting anything more.

Red and white are still Honda's colors.
The current one still screams Mercedes. Whoever got that agreed with Honda should work as a UN negotiator. He/she would even get the hardest IS fighters to convert to Judaism.

Ron doesn't want to 'go backwards' but he's fine with using a livery which has its very roots from 18 years ago. That's sound logic right there.

As stupid as this sounds, Vettel has changed his helmet so many times that I feel a disconnection to him. I don't hate him, don't love him but rather feel nothing for him because I feel that there is a nothingness to him. When he is in the car, his helmet is what distinguishes and defines him and all the constant changes gives me nothing to identify with him. Its a weird and fucked up logic I know, but when I see, say Alonso's helmet I can identify and feel something for him (either good or bad). That helmet gives me a connection that is identifiable, Seb, I just don't have that association.

On the contrary, if I was the one on the wheel, I'd like to try lots of nice helmet schemes. So I like him for that. While all the pilots helmets look dull from the little screen, at least he's doing something great with all the good talented artists that are easy to find nowadays.

I liked the fact Vettel used to change his helmet, it made him unique and it was always interesting to see what design he'd be showing off next

10/10 helmet. Works great with the Ferrari too.

Yep, the kind of stuff legends are made of.

It's up to him to take it that far, by sticking it to the Mercedes in an arguably slower car, Schumi-style. Not a fan of Vettel, but I want him to be competitive just to get the annoying "only-won-because-best-car" rhetoric to stop.

Should we have a testing thread or no?

Red Bull gives you no front wings:

Mercedes are said to have offered Hamilton a £60m 3 year deal.

Ferrari are also said to be looking to make him an offer to get him alongside Vettel next year.
