Chances are it was removed by the marshals to allow easier access to Jules.

My guess is that it was a sideways impact with the car hitting the tractor first with the engine section and then with the cockpit section, and possibly hitting the barrier with the front again. It's the only thing I can think that can explain all wheels being stripped off the car.

Yes I think you're right as the rear section, especially the engine bay is completely destroyed. From there it appears to have impacted the left side of the car fairly severely too. The front has suffered relatively light damage with just the wheels & wing being knocked off by the barrier. I hope that there was no blunt force trauma to Jules' head and that it was just high G's that may have knocked him out. Fingers crossed and hoping for the best, it's a very uneasy feeling...

I'm really struggling to understand the physics of the crash. From those Getty images it looks like he would have had to have snap oversteer. There would of/should be more visible damage to the rear of the tractor ie. paint ripped off more marks, but I can't really see it. I'm just trying to understand how the car could have ended up in that position.

I feel that we will never see a video of it, you can bet that any youtube video will be removed the instant it is uploaded.

Ahh just seen those new pics posted above. Yeah he has slammed into the back of it, front must have been clipped from the inside wall.

Hard to know what was impact damage and what may have been removed or cut to aid him.

I imagine he had a snap going on the hill and went nearly 90° heading to the wall and thus at a slightly other angle to the tractor.

We won't see the video if it ends up being a fatal crash. Let's just hope that isn't the case.

is the FIA doctor Japanese just because she is FIA appointed, or because it's at Suzuka?
