Preety cool/rare/weird seeing pictures like this without all their racesuits on and all the sponsorship. Shame don't see more of this and they're made out as "dull" people.

is it safe for formula1 to put so many eggs in the same basket? I mean, just imagine that plane crashing....

Only chance for Alonso to get a decent seat

This is the best Kimi pic I have ever seen. That said, James Hunt would never have let one like this be taken.

On that basis then I'll tell every single football manager to put his starting 11 on different coaches/planes each to away games.

And hockey too. Unfortunately Lokomotiv Yaroslavl has went through the worst.

Reminds me of the time Schumacher won one of his titles & jumped on a forklift & drove it around drunk.... From what I hear, he did some damage....

Having a closer look at the pictures, is that the Toyota livery on his shirt? I'm pretty sure that's Willi Weber next to him....

Don't forget that his brother has driven for Toyota and was probably invited to join the celebrations.

It was 2003, and Panis' shirt for some unknown reason. They also threw a table through a hospitality suite window, and tipped a fridge:

Edit: 2002, even.

You were right the first time, it was 2003 after just securing his 6th title in the last race of the season.

I remember a headline before the race, "Kimission impossible". But it definitely wasn't Schumacher's best race so the title almost did go to Raikkonen.

I work for a 'British Airline' and on the tuesday/wednesday before a Grand Prix our First and Business class cabins are more like the drivers briefing room. Full of drivers/managers and team personnel.

Its always quite interesting to see in which cabin team members fly.

I dug through Autosport's news archive and found this:

A team spokesperson wrote:
Ferrari have said that Michael Schumacher will not face any internal punishment following his wild celebrations after the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka where he won his record-breaking sixth World Championship.

Schumacher, along with brother Ralf and Toyota driver Olivier Panis, went on the rampage throwing a fridge and television out of a window as the champagne celebrations ran well into the night. But any thoughts of Ferrari punishing Schumacher for his antics were ruled out when a team spokesperson said: "Definitely not."

A Formula One source said that Schumacher's alcohol-fuelled behaviour could not be compared to footballers, who have in the past been fined wages after incidents while out drinking.

"It was a guy who has just won his sixth World Championship and was having fun with his friends," the source said. "It is nothing like football, we don't have people cheating and diving and things like that.

"I don't think Michael and Panis and everyone else had a problem they were just having fun. I've never heard of the kind of behaviour of London footballers in motor racing, it is not the same situation."

Another eyewitness account (albeit published in The Sun) reported that MSC and RSC went for a drink to settle things after the collision they had in the race, and it escalated from there. Michael ended up swapping shirts with Olivier, and Ralf threw a TV through the suite window, before the other two followed it with a table. There are some more pics (including the offending fridge and table) in my earlier link.

Haha, thanks, awesome story. From all the drivers I'd never think Olivier would be part of such a thing

that might be one of my all time favourite stories, but I always thought they had thrown the fridge while still at the track, not in a hotel room :p
