our witty little phil :D

when Lotus said they knew other teams would miss Jerez's test, they were right. The other Renault powered cars are there, but not really testing

I'm positively surprised about the engines' noises, tbh. I love the low pitch of it. The roar is much more agressive than the RPM restricted V8s.

The only car I think is really ok, visually, is Red Bull. Even Mercedes is meh. But all the difference in shapes(albeit hideous) is something that I like. I was expecting everybody to be something like Williams but there is quite some variations with it.

After the obvious and massive fan backlash, I can only hope this is an attempt to divert attention from his court antics.

I'd fund any kickstarter that will give a big trophy to the rightfull champion if the double points affect the WDC outcome.

Or perhaps it could be that I'm sitting with both of them? ;)

But yes, it was F1Fanatic that came up with it!

Let's make all races a double points spectacular :flag:
It wouldn't be a bad idea if they made the last 3 races special, make them double the distance for instance.

Ted Kravitz is reporting whispers of a possible protest about McLarens rear suspension. Too much effort to copy so just get it banned instead.

Everything Red Bull doesn't have gets banned, so it must be them behind it.

I thought Red Bull also had a similar suspension set-up to McLaren's?

Besides, most protests are carried out purely to determine legality. Read what Rod Nelson says in the Autosport article; http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/112365

If the part is legal, then the teams will copy it. But they don't want to waste $x in chasing a particular design only for it to get banned weeks afterwards.

I'd take it from all of this that McLaren have one of, if not the best car. Other teams wanting to copy/ban their innovations suggests they're onto something. Has echoes of the double-decker diffuser debates (try saying that one with sleep deprivation)

Renault teams shouldnt complain. They made the most profit from the engine freeze with the v8. Now with the new rules they have the engine playing a big part again in the performance of the car.

And Renault being the best motorist in the world, they will once again be a huge factor in Red Bull's 2014 constructors title. You can quote me.

Have to say, the W05 looks surprisingly sexy in this studio shot. Might just be my favorite looking car of 2014 thus far.

Simply put, there are components in the Renault engine which will fail should it be pushed beyond around 75%. On top of this, the RB10 has cooling issues for the energy recovery systems, the engine and various other associated components.

It appears tonight as though the might and utter dominance of Red Bull for the past 4 years is over as they are 6 weeks from Melbourne with a car design unable to accommodate the necessary cooling requirements and a power train unable to complete the race in Melbourne.

Daniel Ricciardo commented, “even if we go to Melbourne, still a bit.. whatever…. It’s a long season”. It appears the message has percolated down that Red Bull and Renault will be seriously behind the curve for some time to come.

If that is true...*whistles* *whump*.
