Fuck this shit. After 16 years of watching AOWR it's probably time to say goodbye for good.

I'm through with it. Thought I was that when Dan was killed but today was the final shot. Hi NASCAR, can you interest me as a fan?...

Sad thing is the death of this series won't be as quick as the posts above would like it to be. Most of us will still continue to watch, the team bosses will get their way and the racing will slowly suffer, but my hope for the future return to greatness of Indycar is immediately gone.

This shouldn't be a shock to anyone. IMS is run by a bunch of inbred alcoholic trust fund babies who are drunk enough to also sell the series to Tony George. IMS incompetence is the same incompetence that produced TGBB, Tony George, Fred Nation, Terry Angstadt, Ron Green, Taser Martin, Eddie Cheever and all the other classless inbred IMS scrot-lickers. F*ck them ALL!!!

Wow, just realized this whole deal has taken me back about ten years....

This just struck me. Its not just going to end. We are going to continue to watch and witness the ?slow? demise of Indycar.

Holy f*cking shit! How stupid can you get, Indycar?

Randy was doing a solid job, lifting up the sinking ship and had the course back to the shores. And what does the teams and the board do? They set the ship on fire, kick Randy in the teeth and throw him off!

Go fishing casual fans from Nascar as much as you like Indycar, you've just kicked out a big group off diehard motorsports fans.

Great opinion piece I found, sums up the situation perfectly.

Also, I was planning on going to Long Beach and Fontana next year. But if TG or any of his clowns are put in charge then screw that, I'm not giving my money to those idiots.
It's sad because Indycar was actually my favorite series to watch this year, it was 10000 times more interesting than Nascar or F1 and the new car really provided some good racing. I know I'll still watch the races next year because I love racing though, but at least I'm not giving them any money.

I wonder if there is anywhere that we can voice our displeasure that someone high up might actually read

Robin Miller's mailbag?

I wonder if there's anything good to come out of this. Doubt it somehow, but at least I have some hope.

Indycar was on it's way on becoming an epic series again, so sad to see them digging their own grave.

The Captain throws the IMS board under the bus;

Curt Cavin's Twitter wrote:
Roger Penske: "it's a big disappointment." "This board continues to show poor judgement."

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Well said Captain. Although I can now see the board charging Penske with bringing the sport into disrepute, or something equally pathetic.

I'm so damn confused about why they had to fire Randy when he had only one more year left in his season.

What has he exactly done wrong for the sports? For the team owners? For the fans? And I mean in long term, sure the teams were pissed about setting back the aerokits and Dallara price tags, but that's not 100% Randy that caused it all. The financial turn over for the series was negative, but most of it was caused by earlier ill-choices made by, who else but IRLs own Tony George. Racing was better than ever before and people were showing up in the events. Next year would have been on a plus side for sure.

The ratings didn't change much on either way compared to last year, but given the fact that Danica-mania went away at the same time, I think there were more real fans watching the racing rather than the casual lady driver fans.

I'm coming to think that maybe the problem for the IMS board was that Hulman/George family were not as much talked about as Randy Bernard in the media. Within two years of time Randy Bernard became recognizable character in the world of motorsports. And he gave the face for the shock and grief that we all had to face at Vegas last year. And he gave that just 15 minutes after the doctors official announcement of Wheldon's passing. And they gave this 5 lap salute, which has never been seen in world of motorsports before. I'm sure Randy didn't take advice or opinion from the IMS Board for that decission, but came up with it with the drivers. At the same time it was a great tribute to a great man and racer but also great marketing for the series, sending a message that IndyCar is a one big family. But it wasn't the boards idea, was it?

For me the only mistake Randy ever made was widely valued as the strong leader who was working hard to get this sport back to its former glory, taking care of all the crap that Tony George, the split, the IMS Board and bad marketing choices had done for the series.

Also, fuck you Tony George! FUCK YOU very much IMS Board!

I never watched the IRL era, and I have no interest in the series if Indycar returns to being the Tony George show, as seems likely now.

There seems a fair amount of a similar sentiment among the forums (which admittedly are hardcore fan biased, but Indycar is on shaky fan support to piss off so many hardcore fans.)

Randy Bernard was too good of an exec for this series, it appears.
