A good finish, but isn't that the point when all the cars are basically the same in a spec series (and only getting worse next year)

This finish was just as close, and from two completely different cars (watch from about the 10:00 mark)

You could level the same accusation at the BTCC, but nobody seems to mind how things are going there. For a spec series V8s sure still seem to have only 2 or 3 teams getting the lion's share of wins. What's your alternative proposal for the future of the series?

Either get over it, or stop watching. Times change.

With the new car there will be quite a reshuffle, EVERYONE will be learning from scratch, there will be no data available when they arrive to each track and the setups will very much be a learning game for them as well. With all that in mind I think next season will be very exciting. The teams without in-house engineering and fabrication workshops will struggle after a season or so I think since there is quite a bit of design freedom with various important aspects of the cars, particularly the suspension setups and those with the capability to design and manufacture their own versions will be at a great advantage. That being said, a good half of the field is equipped to do that, so time will tell.

As you've all noticed, Round 3 of the V8 Supercars has not been shown on Motors TV.

Due to contractual issues we also won't be able to show the Perth event due to air this week-end.

We're doing our very best to solve the matter, and will keep you informed as soon as possible.

Sincere apologies for the many V8 Supercars fans.

Just seen V8Xtra's report on the safety car in race 9 that screwed Lowndes and others, basically the confusion was emphasised by the leader they were trying to pick up (Whincup) having pitted while the SC was looking for him. Why don't they just close the pit lane when the SC board comes out and open it again next time by like NASCAR does?

That's what they used to do when compulsory pit stops were brought in, around the time of the Canberra 400.

The problem was they found that most drivers pitted on lap 3 as so not be caught out by the safety car and the closure of the pitlane.

This may be different now, seeing as the distances are longer and fuel loads are less.

Stops being at 1:27

The Syndye Telstra 500 will be a mid year event next year and scrapped after that. Cochrane wants the finale overseas, just great.

I've got two words as to why I find that report to be a whole load of crap: James Phelps. I don't think anymore needs to be said on that one.

And doing pitstops NASCAR style (closing the pits then opening them one lap later) would be even worse than the current reigime unless they double the length of pitlanes. We've seen how chaotic double-stacking is, it would be worse doing in NASCAR style.

That was some incredible racing at Phillip Island. There was also a pretty big crash between Davison and Whincup.
