@32:15 for Kanaan squeezing Dixon into the wall... was a nice battle while it lasted.

He also gets into Andretti on the last lap...

I had forgotten about this race and that infamous slippery asphalt section. I also forgot that TK was already being stupid this early in his career, I like him, but damn.

Didn't notice until last night that the Canadian feed of the '97 Vancouver Molson Indy is on YouTube (as well as all the other CBC telecasts of all Molson Indys from the late 1990s).

What differences was their between the standard ESPN/ABC feed and the Canadian CBC feeds? (other than the obvious commentary and graphics)

Their coverage was more extensive and they had more pre-race features on drivers and teams. They showed the post-race podium ceremonies, which ABC/ESPN never showed. Also, they placed a stronger emphasis on the Canadian drivers, especially if they were having good runs. And they broadcast the Toronto Molson Indy live, whereas ABC's coverage was tape-delayed.

Found this picture of Mark Blundell after a big shunt in spring testing for 1997. I'm guessing that's at Homestead:

IndyCar uploaded the 1987 CART IndyCar race from Road America

Highlights of the Sedalia 100 from 1970. This is the 2nd to last dirt race ever scheduled for a IndyCar season. (not counting Gold Crown that ran from 1981-1983)

With Portland coming back to the IndyCar schedule, here's the last race to date to run there from 2007 (featuring the first standing start in series history).

Three random observations:

1. These cars sound amazing!
2. I had no idea the back straight used to be the S/F straight
3. That's onboard cameras at least three years before F1 got them 8O

Saw the 80's Indy 500 in a small chunk of time, it's SO AMAZING how those cars sound.

Paul Page's first race as ABC's lead racing announcer. He called the races that NBC did for several years beforehand.

Certainly was an upgrade by a mile compared to Jim Lampley, who moved over to CBS after the Indy 500 (didn't do any races as those were well-covered by Ken Squier) and later NBC (called the '94 Molson Indy Toronto for them).

What Ken Squier was to NASCAR, Paul Page was to IndyCar/CART.

Of all the drivers I've been unfortunate enough to witness make the ultimate sacrifice, that one hurt the most. So much greatness lay in wait.

18 years and I remember this one like yesterday.

RIP Greg.
