some time ago I was watching some 1984 season compilations and noticed a huge fire and searched for more info, videos of what happened, even description is not that accurate

Piercarlo Ghinzani. Kyalami/1984

I guess it was the most damage inflicted to a F1 car and the driver only suffered burns to hands and fc.

This was in pre-race warm up session, first lap out of the pits and with full tanks. I believe it is the exit of T1 or T2.

Looked like a good time for a cockpit bubble party to celebrate his lucky escape!

He also missed the opportunity to crash it ONE corner before (barbeque bend)

The old Kyalami was an epic track. Simple, yet tricky.

The new one isn't too bad either, the recently rebuilt one. Its got some pretty good flow.

The B192 was a beast! Love how it seems to tower over all the other cars whenever pictured in a group.

I actually got the chance to sit in the B192 last week at the NZ motorsport museum, that was one hell of an experience.

EDIT: Might have been the B191, never the less #humblebrag

Didn't you get any pics of it?

Because there were big signs that said do not touch and I obviously touched.

Google says it's a B191, but no less cool for it :metal:

When I was about 6 years old I sat in a B190 painted up in 1991 livery, and it took me about a decade to work out why it didn't look right against my books...

You can tell the difference between the B191 and B192 by the shape of the nose cone.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I didn't have it at that age! I sat there with the photo in one hand, a picture of the B191 in the other, and literally could not understand why two 'identical' cars had different shapes :slaphead:

talking about Diniz fire in 1996, from one angle I saw the helmet had some burns but I didn't noticed that catched fire either

It was more serious than I thought

I meant that he was able to escape unhurt, not like what happened to Berger at Imola when he got some burns to the hands and people on the trees above had to flee to avoid the heat

Well Berger was unconscious after a fairly hefty crash into the Tamburello wall, so the two situations are hardly comparable.
