Pennies is old hat. Should be in various denominations; nickles, dimes, quarters, you name it. Still a fuckload of coins and it'll take them twice as long to count it.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

^^ LOL.

NASCAR is so dumb though, that rule is going to come back and bit them on the dick Eugene style sooner or later, avoid the lawsuits now and stop a wheel going into the crowd, cos I don't think "we let the teams decide what level of risk they were happy with, to save us having to pay 43 people to stand on pitlane to do it" isn't really going to cut them much favour when the Jury is discussing the compensation value to put on the multiple lives that wheel ended...

I get the desire to do that, but it's a dick move in the end because the person who ends up having to count all that shit has nothing to do with the decision to fine him in the first place.

NASCAR Drivers Council: We're paying Stewart's fine

This might be a stand from the drivers.

There's a big difference between "NASCAR needs to change the lugnut rules because that may kill someone sooner or later" and "fuck NASCAR for not changing the lugnut rules...fucking assholes could let someone die because of it and they wouldn't care".

One's a suggestion and the other is what NASCAR should define as "disparaging to the sport".

Pretty much this... if he can make a point without being an asshole about it, why fine him? Can't take any criticism? I'd say fan safety should be a concern but the way NASCAR keeps doing things if a wheel does fly off there won't be anyone in the seats to worry about getting hit...

Funnier still is that I've seen fans tweeting at the Orange Cone about attendance (or lack thereof).

Well, if it's possible that we're gonna see something straight out of Driven/the Final Destination thanks to the lugnut rule, of course people will stay home, and not for economical reasons.

Some organizations/people are worthy of disparagement.

The fact that we are getting all up in arms about lug nuts is fuckin ridiculous...

The teams need to shoulder some of the responsibility for this, the risk vs reward of a loose nut is, imho, simply not worth the gain it can bring.

Loose wheel = have to pit again, go several laps down, race over basically.
Tight nuts = maybe takes a second or two longer, if the car is a good, a good driver can make that up easily.

Eliminate all the foolishness by going to a single center wheel nut. It's not like these stock cars are stock anyway.

I have no problem with the rule as it is. If the teams choose to fuck themselves, so be it. This idea that wheels are going to break off and start raining on the grandstands is stupid. The last wheel I can remember actually breaking off and getting near any fans is Vickers right rear wheel breaking off at Charlotte in 2008 or 2009 and it end up in the camping area. I don't remember if it was loose lugs or the wheel itself just broke. But regardless, that was 7 or 8 years ago. I do not see this as a safety thing at all. A driver seems to know right away that a wheel is loose. Either hit 5 lugs or risk fucking yourself, plain and simple.

Just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean it couldn't very easily happen in theory. A loose wheel on the track is bad fucking news.

It'll take an errand tire to go flying through the pit lane at Dover or Bristol before NASCAR will take action...they NEVER admit they're wrong, remember?

especially considering that there have been other drivers (Jr., Biffle) that have made the same comments that Stewart also said but didn't get fine.

And then there is Kyle Busch saying NASCAR fixes races a few weeks back over team radio, no fine there.
